singulair

My Dr. told me there was a small study on singulair for IC pain, and that many subjects pain in the trail was lowered up to 3 points on the pain scale. I am waiting for a prior authorization from my insurance and if it goes through, i will be taking it once a day. has anyone tried singulair yet??????? can you share your experiences with it????

I tried it for my asthma because my mother, also asthmatic, reacted very well to it and it gave her a lot more breath.

I had a fairly unusual reaction to it. After about 6 weeks, I had dreadful muscle weakness. I always take the same walk, have for years, and I was having to sit repeatedly throughout it.

This was new, this was different. I thought, I sure am aging quickly!

I got online-- I read all the rosacea forums -- and corresponded with another woman whom I trust. She had the same reaction to it. We were both horrified.

She stopped taking it and it took two months to regain her previous strength. I quit, and it also took me that long to get back to where I could walk my previous (not very challenging) walk again.

SO I urge caution with this drug. Pay attention to your strength. If, about 2 or 3 months into it, or maybe more, you find you are steadily losing strength and don't know why, it might be the drug.

It was a hard reaction to diagnose because it happened so long after beginning the drug. If I hadn't found this other woman, I'm not sure I would have made the connection.

I have been on Singulair since I was 15 years old, prior to being diagnosed with IC. I have reacted very well to it.

However, the only difference I noticed with my ICwas the antihistamine, hydroxyzine/atarax. Not the singulair.

All I can say is try it and good luck!

I tried singular as a heaadache preventor. So i don't really know if it helpped my IC, but I can say it didn't have any stunning results for IC or I would have noticed. But what it did do was give me terrible nightmares, and constant dreaming, I would sleep but not really sleep deeply. To the point I had to quite taking it. At the sametime my friend who had a 3 year old who was put on it for breathing asthma problems, when I said about the nightmares and not really sleeping soundly the had an aha moment and figured out that was why he was having so much trouble sleeping, he was taken off it too.

I am not saying this will happen to you, I am very sensative to meds, but just beaware.
