Best med for pain and fatigue
Fatigue is a huge problem for me. I feel the pelvic pain all the time and it causes me to feel anxious. After a couple of days of this I will sleep sometimes almost twenty hours. My chronic fatigue has become as bad as the pain for me. I wanted to know if others have this issue and what has helped you

Elavil
Hi,
I am very new to the boards (and to IC) and for the past month had suffered from horrible insomnia (as I too was so anxious about the pain). I've been on Elvail (only for a week!) but it has helped tremendously, with both sleep and pain.
Best,
Emily

Grammy,
I dido on the fatigue and pain. There's times that I sleep 16hrs and still feel so exhausted. I wish I knew what to do too.
I am going through chelation right now and am taking suppliments and many vitamins, so I'm praying that there is a light at the end of the tunnel somewhere.
Hugs and blessings

I have the same problem. I have no energy and tired all the time. Sometimes my muscles are sore for no reason. I have been having cramps in my feet and legs. And spasms in my back and neck. I even would have pain in my face and arms. Its like a burning sensation. DIAMIC65

Grammy,
there is one thing that has helped with my fibro and that is going on the low oxalate diet. But I do wish there was a magical pill that we could take to stop being BEYOND fatigued.
I'm really scared of the Lyrica. Because of all the side effects!
But I'm glad it is helping those that take it! Right now my right hip is killing me though even with pain meds urrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!
And my kidneys have been hurting bad for a while now. I go see my uro next Fri and I'm going to say something to him.
Hugs and blessings,

You might consider talking with you doctor about trying the dextroamphetamine. Some people have had great results with that for IC and even though it would be low dose it should also help with the fatigue.

Are you feeling depressed, too? It can go along with anxiety a lot of the time, and it also goes with chronic pain and illness unfortunately. I read that about 50% of IC patients also have depression (probably because of IC!). Maybe if you look into treating that, it would help with your energy level. I hope you're not depressed, but I wouldn't blame you if you were. It's hard to fight these debilitating symptoms day after day and think about where and what you would be doing without IC. It can be a very difficult thing to deal with and play tricks on your head and compromise your well-being. I hope you feel better soon... Keep on truckin', things will get better.

Pelvic pain began July 2008. Urinary frequency began in November of 2008.
Cystoscopy showed evidence of glomerulations on the bladder.
Main symptoms: Frequency mostly. Also some mild to moderate pain. Completed 8 months of physical therapy.
Currently on: IC Diet, Elavil (30mg), Elmiron since June '09 (500mg/day), Hydroxyzine (50mg), Cystoprotek, DH Aloe, Alesse Birth Control to regulate hormones, and Flowmax. I also just started PTNS. I have done 4 of 12 weekly sessions.
Previously tried and quit: one series of six instillations, Neurontin, Ditropan, Oxytrol, electric stimulation to the pelvic floor.
