hot dogs

Just thought I would pass along I found in my grocery store Oscar Mayer nitrate free hot dogs. They were with the regular hot dogs. It had been so long since I had a hot dog it tasted great.

Oh yea Galye, I found them at my local discount grocery store. They don't bother my bladder at all and actually they are some of the best tasting hot dogs I have ever had.

I have been diagnoised for 2 1/2 years. I have tried every oral med as well as rescue instills and DMSO.
1st hydro 4/07 which showed no visible signs of IC but I had tons of mast cells in all my biopsy samples which did prove IC.
2nd hydro 4/13/09 showed dark purple glomerulations and I had a capacity of 450 cc's. I am still feeling the effects of the hydro two weeks later.
This 2nd hydro proved that because no treatments have helped me that my IC has progressed

Am being seen by Dr. Hanno's office in Philly

None of my medicine or treatments are important anymore. One of our best IC sisters Barb has been taken from us too early. She was such a great friend to me, I feel like there is a part of my heart that will always be empty now that she is gone.

I haven't had a hotdog in twelve years!! What do you eat on them??
(I used to love relish and ketchup, of course! )
Hope I can find them here!

funny what you can eat now

Before IC I could not eat bbbhot dogs without severe indigestion. I've discovered I can eat Hebrew National Knockworst with no problem now - which is yummy and quite a treat. When I feel bad about all the things I cannot eat I make myself happy thinking of the things I can eat now.

Hello everyone. I have been reading your posts for weeks now and want to thank everyone for all of your advice and experience. I went on the hunt for nitrate free hot dogs at my local grocery store this weekend and could not find them...then a friend of mine suggested Whole Foods Market. I don't know if anyone has one near them, but they have a whole selection of different brands of hot dogs that are nitrate and nitrite free and they were soooo yummy and "knock wood" I have not flared.

Whole Foods is awesome. They have tons of organic foods and ingredients on everything they sell. It makes it so easy to shop smart. Unfortunately, the nearest store is an hour a way, but my husband and I made a day of it and brought a cooler to lug all my newfound safe foods home.

hot dogs

I find I can tolerate the Hebew National all beef hot dogs. They are kosher but I am not sure what that means for us. Lili

kosher

I don't honestly know if this is true or not but my college roommate was Jewish and I lived w/ her for five years. She said besides the meat being blessed, when it's is "kosher" its b/c the animal was killed differently. Something about the animal's blood not being allowed to drip back onto the meat that gets eaten. Or something like that. She gave me a detailed description of the difference in how the animals are killed but EW I'm sure you don't want to know and I don't exactly remember anyway. LOL. But after she described it, it sounded like healthier meat..........

Jealous - All dogs have paprika...?

I WISH I could find a hotdog - ANY hotdog without paprika. The nitrites and nitrates don't bother me but the paprika does and I CAN'T find them! Does anyone know of one without paprika??

You can try Weisswurst. Do a search online for weisswurst and ingredients and see if those would be ok for you.

Bockwurst

Thanks. I hadn't thought of that. Haven't found one yet that doesn't have onion and/or mustard in them. If anyone knows of one, let me know!
