What do you do when you don't know what to do??
I had a hard time going to sleep again last night, and after I got my son off to school I climbed back into bed and slept for two hours.
This is not good. I can't keep this up. I had a sleep study done two years ago and they showed no signs of apnea . . . but I didn't sleep very much so how could they tell?? There have been a few times that I've snored so loudly that I've woken myself up.
I have Vicodin for my bladder pain--only 30 pills--and I"m using those sparingly. Last night I took one before I went to bed and I wonder if that had anything to do with me having trouble sleeping.
I'm very frustrated with my inability to get a decent night's sleep. Then there's the bladder pain I deal with constantly. Handling Matthew day by day wears me down at times. I struggle with past ghosts--although I THINK I'm on my way to forgiving my childhood bullies, those memories are not easy to handle. There's still the spiritual/religious abuse I encountered in college, and also memories of some toxic relationships I went through in both places. DH had a VERY bad fight with my mother on Christmas Eve, and that did NOT help matters any. Add in how I feel about politics these days, and I guess it's no wonder I feel so frustrated and angry!!
Thing is, I don't know what to do now. My DH and I are seeing our counselor Thursday. That's a start for those issues. But with my sleep problems and bladder problems, I don't know what to do half the time. Go to another doctor? I'm tired of going to doctors and finding no help. And I frankly don't know which doctors are going to help and which ones won't!

Sleepless nights
Have you tried Elavil? If not, please call your doctor and ask if you can try it. Many people get help from bladder pain from it. I did not but it does help me sleep at night. I would be up all night going to the bathroom if it was not for Elavil. Ask him to start you on a low dose (10mg) because it does make you groggy the next day. Increase it slowly. I am on 50 mg and have been for many years.

Tina, I noticed you say you take vicodin. Vicodin can work two ways: one, it can knock you out and you sleep. Or it can keep you up and won't be able to sleep. It really depend on each individual. I just thought I would mention this to you, but I don't know, if this might be the issue with you not sleeping. I know it is frustrating to keep going to doctors, but you really need to find out what is happening. Sleeping is so important for the body to be able to function right. Without sleeping properly it can cause you to get irritable and depressed, and do things because of despair.
Hope you find the problem soon,
Sending hugs, Trishann

I would get a new sleep study to start. If you have gained any weight the sleep apnea could show up on this sleep study. The sleep study can also tell you about other sleep problems such as restless legs syndrome, or the inability to reach stage 4 or REM sleep. You could try asking your doc for a sleep aid. I have tried all of them and Ambien CR is the best. I have also taken two of them together every night. If you need to get a regular sleep schedule ask your doc about combining Ambien CR and Rozerem or Lunesta and Rozerem. If you think the Vicoden is keeping you awake, ask your doc about switching to a different pain med. If you are sleepy during the day, a med named Provigil might help you. Your regular doctor such as a family practitioner or internist can refer you to a sleep specialist usually a neurologist, and he/she can help you with your pain medications unless you are in pain management. I hope you feel better.

Hello,
I just wanted to let you know if I take anything with codeine or hydrocodone, It wires me up..Thats why I can only take a half of one at a time, because it gives me to much energy and then I over do it on housework or stay up most of the night and thats not good for my bladder...
