Uncle is having heart bypasses
Could you guys please pray for our uncle P.J.?
He went in for tests and was scheduled for a stent this morning. Turns out there is much more blockage than his medical team thought.
He is now being transferred to U.T. Medical Center for a triple if not quad. bypass surgery.
The hospital he is at now isn't equipped for the major surgery.
Anyway, he is in his 60's and is so healthy. This is a real shock for the family.
I apologize for not being around much to post. We have had so much going on lately........I just wanted to pop on and get all the prayers possible going out for his surgery in the a.m.
Thanks you guys.................

I'll definitely keep him in my prayers, Jaime. I bet that is scary and seemingly so out of the blue for an otherwise healthy guy.

Current IC meds: Elmiron (since 2001), Levaquin (one pill after intercourse to prevent UTIs), Lexapro (since 2003 for depression & anxiety, but also helps my IC)
Past IC meds: Amitriptyline (Elavil), Hydroxyzine (Vistaril), Detrol LA (They all helped, but I was able to discontinue them.)
My IC story: http://www.ic-network.com/patientstories/kim.html It's very outdated now. I've been virtually symptom free and able to eat & drink whatever I'd like for several years now.

I'll keep him in my prayers. My husband had three vessels and an aortic valve replacement six years ago. The great news is that he is still doing much, much better than he was before surgery. He couldn't walk the length of our driveway without resting --- right now he's out walking behind our self propelled lawn mower cutting our lawn.

Gosh your story is so similar to mine. My dad is 72 and in Nov he went in for a heart cath and possibly one stent- turns out he had to have quad. bypass. 4 blocked art. Other than a prior heart attack he has been healthy. One word of warning - my dad has not really been the same since. Sometimes when they have this done they tend to go into a depression like state not wanting to talk etc. And unfort. for us my Dad is now having symptoms similar to Alizh. Which heart bypass surgery can bring on. Usually the older the patient the hard it is to get over.....This might not happen, but be prepared because it could. I warned my mom for months after this could have happened and she did not want to believe me.
Wishing and hoping for the best. I was a wreck for days about this.

Thank you,
Donna,
Sharon,
Kim,
Katrina,
Tracey,
and Patricia. Our story is very similar.
I just got off the phone with my MIL. P.J just had his surgery. It was a quadruple bypass...(just like your dad's, Patricia).....I hope he starts doing better...it has to be hard on him and all involved.
The doctor is coming down and going to chat with them now.
I hope his recovery is good. Thanks again...........

Thanks Jamie...I hope your uncle is doing well today.
Yes it has been hard. I think harder on my Mom though. After the last accident and he was taken to the ER by ambulance, no one at our home new what had happened. He had been gone for several hours. I just started calling hospitals and found him at the second one. They took him there because he was so confused and disorin. and stuff. He was dehydrated on top of it all. But we dec that day he would not be driving anymore. Some times it can take up to a year to get better. And some get better with all that stuff withing a couple of months. But I dont think and neither do the docs that he will get any better. I do think the surgery triggered the dementia he is expering now. But at least he is not 6 ft under and for that I am grateful. He is still working, works at a bagger at the local base commisary, and trying to keep busy and I think this will help him. I think staying at home would make him worse in the end. It is very hard for me, I am the youngest, 34, my brothers are 45 and 43 and I am the only girl. So I was and still am a Daddy's girl. I think I cried for days and I was a crying slob the day of his surgery. I live an hour away and got there right before they took him in which made things worse. But he came through the surgery with flying colors.
I do hope your uncle does well and is up and bouncing around in no time and I sure hope he has no problems from it. But they caught it in time and that is the important thing. His family has him for another day.

Thanks Grace and Cindy.......(I hope that little boy is doing good..)
Well, I have a great update! Uncle P.J. has done fabulously well that he is going home in the a.m.
But his wife wants us to wait a few days before coming to visit. I understand he needs to rest....believe me, I've had my own heart scare at 26.....but I really wanted to just help her out by bringing a meal over....that will have to wait, I guess. Hopefully his whole recovery will be as smooth as his last few days post-op.
Thanks so much for including us in your prayers.......
