Beer Butt Chicken
Anone ever heard of it? It's my son't favorite chicken recipe and he has been asking me to make it for a coupole weeks now. As the name suggests beer is an ingredient. Basically you cook the chicken with an open beer can stick in the "butt." It's very yummy since it keeps the chicken so moist. Would it cause me to flare though? I'm assuming that the alcohol would be all cooked off. What in the beer causes flares though? Thanks!

Current IC meds: Elmiron (since 2001), Levaquin (one pill after intercourse to prevent UTIs), Lexapro (since 2003 for depression & anxiety, but also helps my IC)
Past IC meds: Amitriptyline (Elavil), Hydroxyzine (Vistaril), Detrol LA (They all helped, but I was able to discontinue them.)
My IC story: http://www.ic-network.com/patientstories/kim.html It's very outdated now. I've been virtually symptom free and able to eat & drink whatever I'd like for several years now.

I've grilled chicken this way before, but I have used other liquids instead of beer, such as seasoned chicken broth. After seeing how much liquid was left over in the can, I would be willing to give the beer a try one day when I feel up to it. I think maybe the heat would cause more of the beer, as the alcohol evaporate, to steam into the chicken than the broth did, so I would try just a small piece of chicken the first time just in case something in the beer might bother me. I would think most of the alcohol would evaporate, but, I'm not really sure about that.
