I have a few obstacles for you.
Ok when I first found out I had IC I couldn't get an appointment with the health food dietrition for a week so I went to see the health food store. I think that may have been a bad idea but would like some impoot. First I was a rundown wreck who wouldv'e taken anyones help those first couple days. She put me on acedompholis, kidney vitatmin (natural one of course) and a BUFFERED Vitamin C so it contains strengthening powers as in vitamin c but contains immunity strengthening powers of vitamin c without acidity.(Apparently IC requires this?) Anyhow I had an appointment wiht the dietician today and she told me to go off all the "crab" Except the acedopholis if I'd like as it's really good for those with IBS? What's with the Vitamin C deletion? She said buffered or not vitamin C is vitamin c regardless and I should be getting enough from the diet she gives me. My questions is what you you guys think of natural herb vitamins from health food store or what do I do about vitamins, I know I am run down from lack of sleep from not peeing.
Second of all I made homemade soup today, used a organic based chicken soup base ( ingreadiants: Salt, Yeast Estract, Starch*(potatoe*, corn*), Non Hydrogenated Palm Oil, chicken Fat, Dehydrated Chicken, Celery, onions, sugar, parsley.lovage, tumaric natural flavour) so I used plain cooked cut chicken, brocolli, celery, potatoe cubes and sliced carrots. I did use Garlic Salt but on the ingrediates it was just almond and garlic power???. I 've been looking at the diary and I've done well today until 6:00 when i ate my soup and then it's every 15 minutes, what's in the soup that I messed up on anyone know? You see I am not much of a cook so I'd love some advise. Could I just be peing so often because I had a good day and it's making up for it or does it stem back to the soup? I thought my soup was great ahhhhh.
By the way for those who have been following, I finally had a bowel movememt today....HOLY WAS I DOING THE HAPPY DANCE. Question for you with the vitaril along with Elmiron, do you find it works well for frequency and urgency and does it work a little bit faster or not so much?
So at the Dietitian, she's starting me off pretty heavy. Some say eggs some say no so I don't know but it really bothered her to cut it out completely. So some ideas for thos out there, In SAVE ON FOODS or your grocery store there organic isles, she said to buy brown rice hot cereal for breakfast or millet, or buckwheat pancake mix, brown rice, Rice Pasta ("Tinkyada")supposed to be the best, tapioca pudding, and Breyers Vanilla Icecream with no preservatives-watch for Benoates. She gave a few nice ideas.
Love to hear from you soon.

I would listen to the dietitian. She knows what she's talking about. I don't have a problem with health food stores, but the clerks there are not usually well trained --- in our city, most are college students with very little diet training.
Eggs are not a problem for me.

For me, onion is an IC trigger, so that might be what happened with your soup. But onion doesn't bother everyone, so you might want to retry that when you've been on the IC diet for awhile & your symptoms are reduced.
You might want to check out this link to the IC diet, maybe that will help you work with the dietician

Hope you are feeling better soon!

This week's favorite one-liner:
"I love deadlines. I especially like the whooshing sound they make as they go flying by...
New second favorite:
"And which dwarf are you?."
Adding a third because I'm just so darn easily amused...
"Eagles may soar, but weasels aren't sucked into jet engines."
Current treatments:
-IC diet
-Elavil 20mg at night
-Ditropan 5mg at night
-Continuous use birth control pills (4-5 periods/year)
-Heparin/Marcaine/Sodium Bicarb home instills every night & sometimes in the morning also
-Pyridium if needed, usually once a week or so
-1 Darvocet at bedtime,
-Flexeril 10mg at bedtime
-Dye Free Benadryl for allergies occasionally
-Pelvic floor & myofascial release (external only) physical therapy for 8 weeks, then home exercise program...
-Managing stress
-Fur therapy: Hugging the cat!
