PF problems after car accident, you too??
Hello everyone!
I am looking for others who might have information to share about their recovery. It has been almost 2 years since I was hit by a Suburban running a red light around 55 mph. I had immediate pain deep inside my left pelvic which went unlistened to and undiagnosed for months, was limping with tingling in toes, leg, pain in knee, and no massage therapist was willing to touch me in "those" areas, read upper thigh, pubic bone, psoas, sit bone of rear end. I finally got a referall to a gyno after experiencing deep pain and spasms with orgasm and sex with hubbie after I was feeling good enough to. I was diagnosed with pelvic rotator cuff tears and extremely tight levator ani and obterator internus on left besides my inner left thigh being always tight and a multitude of other painful areas.
I tried two different P.T.s with bad results and have been going to a good one for 8 months now but I still am barely functioning in terms of being able to do anything.I have internal pelvic floor work both vaginal and anal about every 2 weeks or one week if I can afford it and my P.T. has me doing external rotations at home while laying down, about 6 morning and night depending on pain, and while standing about 3 to 4, and before bed I use resistance against a rubber band above my knees while rotating legs outwards ( laying down) one time, any more than that and my psoas gets cranky and my whole left hip aches so bad I wake up later on in the night. I also listen to physiological quieting tapes and do some kind of "holds". I was on the second day of my period and cramping when hit by the SUV and experience pain during my periods in all areas affected except for my uterus! Go figure! My gyno says my obterator internus was probably the one ripped and sometimes when they heal up the muscle doesn't function properly.
I have no health insurance and am paying for pt out of pocket, I already blew thru $25,000 in PIP car insurance without resolving anything in pelvic area but my whiplash was treated satisfactorily. I've had tons of chiropractics, seen a naturopath, an orthopedist, etc, etc,. I know hot water helps, (don't have a bath tub ) I use my heating pad religiosuly, am on an anti-inflammation diet and also using Vitalzyme enzymes...however, my left leg and knee is now starting to swell alot by the end of the day and I have bad pain in my left knee and can't crouch down. I can't pleasure walk, swim, run, bicycle, play golf, putt, have sex, sit with legs crossed ,strain at bowel movements, stand for too long, sit for too long, on and on. So is there anyone out there doing some kind of therapy for a similar situation?? I am looking for something to try. My gyno gave me a low dose of amytryptiline for nerve "therapy"? and I hated it and felt psycho and almost got in 3 car accidents on it, now he's giving me NORtryptiline in a low dose of 10 mg., he says I am not a candidate for surgery or injections and that pesky obterator just keeps acting up. My inner left thigh muscles are constantly in a knot and in constant pain along with the obterator areas. I get conflicting stories, some people say the p.f. therapy should work on the diagonal meaning to treat the right side if the left is tight etc...I'm just beaten down and tired but I still somehow manage to get my hopes up on the good days...I was doing warm water p.t. in brasil for a month, 6 days a week and had incredible results altho I was not getting internal work done...but I was definitely much better than I am now. I am thinking of flying down again and staying to try and get better...Sadly, I am not very impressed with the doctors here. I have had all my body parts farmed out to different doctors and therapists and while everyone has made a lot of money off of me I haven't had good results and worse, no one really seems to give a fig...Is anyone making their own p.t. routine with success? How about a gentle yoga in those heated rooms of 110 degrees? Any ideas anyone????
thanks for any and all suggestions/support!!!!
