feels like my bladder is falling out
I am new to this forum. Im excited about getting to talk to someone who shares in my pain. 5 years ago after my partial hysterectomy, I started having low cramps. (felt like something stuck in my vagina) I would also feel bladder spasms. Regular Doctor said they may have nicked my bladder. It just got worse. So I went to urologists. He did a scope and distension on me. Said I had mild IC. bladder half the size of normal. PUt me on Elmiron. Tried it for 3 months. No luck. By this time, I realized my diet could be the cause. I changed drastically my eating habits. Helped alot. No sugar and no acid drinks. Anyway for about 1 year, little or no pain. Then, WHAM. It started again. Have had quite a few infections in the past 3 years. Yeast mostly. 3 weeks ago, I started hurting real bad. Went to the ER with alot of blood and puss in urine. It was dark red. Looked like wine. SCARY. put me on macrobid. 2 days later, my back started hurting. Went to regular doc, said it was kidney infection. Did a culture. NO BLood or puss anymore, but alot of pain. Finally went to urologists(a different one then the first.) He said the dark blood one day and then 2 days later no blood was puzzling. Did a complete CAT scan. no results yet. Heres my confusion. I have real low pressure pain. Feels like my lower half is going to fall out. or like something is stuck in my vagina. I burn when i pee, my bladder has some spasms. All the medicines like pyridum and urastat make me real sick. I am going to the bathroom more often, but Doc doesnt think I have IC. The pain is worse as the day goes on. My mom says it might be a prolapsed bladder, but I dont feel any lump in my vagina when I feel up there. Im real puzzled. Has anyone had these symtoms. I go back to Doc on the 20th. I need all the info I can get before I see him again. Sorry its so long. Look forward to hearing from someone. God Bless.

Hello and
When I am in a bad flare I have burning and the feeling also that my bladder is swollen and I have alot of pressure and it does feel like I could push my bladder out. My URO said this was just a part of IC.
Luckily though the Elmiron is working for me along with my other meds and I have not had a severe flare like that in a while..With the symptoms you said you have and you said you had already been Dx with IC by another Dr. I don't understand why this other Dr would not think you have IC..My suggestion would be to go get a second opinion..There is meds out there that can help you..Hope you start feeling better soon..

 godlives and welcome to icn.
a lot of women get that heavy bladder feeling and that CAN be a part of ic. HOWEVER-i read that you had a partial hysterectomy and THAT can cause the other organs (bladder, urethra) to drop. if it feels like something is stitting, stuck in your vagina, PLEASE go have it looked @. can YOU see anything? when i had my prolapse it was pretty darn clear (i went to the bathroom and could see my insides!). even still, pls see a doc about this if it continues. i don't want anyone to go thru the hell i went thru! your mom is right, it does sound like prolapse.
i too have bladder/urethral spasms and they are HORRIBLE, to the point of retention. pyridium helps somewhat with this. heat also helps too. i want a full body heating pad lol.
let us know how it goes!

Tried and failed: Elavil, Ultram, Prosed DS, Benadryl, Bentyl, Valium, Ativan, Zanaflex, Librax, Sanctura (all caused retention among other things), bladder instills (owwwwww!), Elmiron (allergic-throat tightening). Failed Interstim-no feeling in sacral nerves...
I'm allergic to penicillan, sulfa, reglan, quinolones, clindamycin, and now LATEX!

When I'm feeling really bad which is more and more lately I feel like I'm going to break in half right at the middle from my pelvis straight through to my back. I did feel like my bladder was going to fall out when I had my period the last time which is why I'm trying to avoid it at all costs. My new dr told me that I have pretty severe PFD (pelvic floor dysfunction) which has a lot to do with my pain at this point and really things my endo is having something to do with the totally horrible periods. Maybe they are trying to make sure you don't have something else going on because from what I've found if you have IC you tend to have other problems as well, it seems to be pretty rare for a person to just have one thing wrong with them as I guess that would be too easy. I hope you feel better soon

It's not unusual for someone with IC to feel like our bodies are trying to expel our bladders. When I have bladder spasms it feels like that --- others have described the feeling as being like trying to give birth to a bladder.
I think it's good that you're working with a doctor towards diagnosis. Be sure the mention this feeling when you see your doctor.

That is how I always describe my bladder to the doctor, I say it feels like its going to fall out, but I don't have a prolapse and I have IC, I also have severe PFD. Good luck!

I don't get that kind of flare often, but when it does happen it's miserable. In fact, it happened yesterday (not quite sure whey - either walking or hormones) and if felt just like my body was trying to expel or give birth to my bladder. Pyridum, xanax and a heating pad helpd.
