Tongue Hurts..possiable side effect?
I have noticed these last few days that my tongue feels raw. Is this a side effect of taking Elmiron? I have only been taking this drug for 10 days as of today. Is there anything I can do to make my tongue feel better? Will this go away if I keep taking the drug? All full of questions again....sorry.

hmm, is there anything on your tongue? Elmiron does cause dryness throughout the body and I suspect it could cause some increased dryness in the mouth as well...best guess I have. I hope you find out....I would call your doctor.

I just checked with my Dr's office. They seem to think it is from the Cipro I was on after the Cyto/Hydro/Biopsy I had done on August 10. They told me to eat some yogurt or cottage cheese to help make my tongue and mouth feel better. They said the antibotic killed all the good stuff my body needs as well as killing all the bad. Off to the store now to get some yummy yogurt.

That was gonna be my advice.....the yogurt....I've had this several times in my life after taking Cipro or other antibiotics. Get the PLAIN yogurt with no fruit, etc. Get a spoonful and let it just sit in your mouth and cool your tongue before swallowing. It feels good and can start to help in just 24 hrs.

Oh yes... the EVIL thrush. I get it too after antibiotics, as I am taking inhaled steroids for asthma too and they can make you more prone. If the yogurt doesn't work, make sure to let your doctor know. He can either prescribe Diflucan, which is an anti-yeast drug in pill form, or a mouth rinse called Nystatin... the Nystatin mouthwash works, but it takes longer than the Diflucan.
I hope it goes away soon!!!!
