Hot Flashes?
Ok guys. For the last couple of months I have been having hot flashes at church. It has only been at church & nowhere else. Wierd, huh? Until today. I could not get cooled off. I woke up this morning sweating my butt off & it didn't go away until later this afternoon. I know that it was hot here today, but it really should make no difference when you're sitting inside in the air conditioning not doing a thing. I mean, I was sweating like a stuck pig for hours! I took my temp & it was normal. Surely this couldn't be menopause. Geez! I'm only 31! Does anyone else have hot flashes like this without being menopausal? It's real strange for me to even be hot in the first place. I'm usually freezing all the time.

when you mentioned they were happening only at church, my first thought was hellfire and brimstone.
i'm 33, and i do get hot flashes from time to time. i'm asking my gyn about it when i have my annual next month. i think early 30s is too young for menopause, but i think we could start some of the signs of perimenopause at our age. scary.
watch and see if they're happening at certain parts of your cycle. are you on any birth control? if so, there's a chance you might need a little more estrogen. i'm not on any hormones, so i don't know what could be causing mine.
i'll let you know what my doctor says, but it will be about 6 weeks. it wouldn't hurt to get it checked out if it keeps happening.
also, get a water bra and keep it chilled in the fridge overnight. it will help. when i did lupron and was in temporary menopause, my hot flashes would start in my boobs most of the time. the water bra helped a lot.holly 35

Weird but I've been having hot flashes and night sweats for months now. I'm 25 I hope I'm not going through menapause this early. What could it be? Could it be another sucky symptom of fibro Karma? Does anyone get the night sweats too? Just wondering. I don't take birth control because I can't tolerate it I have very adverse side effects. If you find anything out let me know too. Thanks hope things cool off soon. - Chris :smile fai

Hormones and pain...a lovely combination. I am definately menopausal, which make the sweat just pour off me, but I also find that if my pain is very intense, it will make me sweat. Wishing you airconditioned thoughts! Sheri G

I know with my hot flashes being in a hot room (like at Church, or when the weather is hotter) will make it more likely for me to have. As does tiredness or stress. Sorry you are having them, tell you gynocologist.

Speaking as someone who is past menopause, I have times when I really get sweaty. This happens to me when I am tired, or if I don't feel well, or am just weak --- I've been very sweaty since my surgery last week. I'm driving my family crazy resetting the A/C to colder. And most churches don't have air conditioning in my part of the country --- so that might be it.
When I went through the hot flashes, I got them early in the morning and it wasn't like I was sweating --- it was more like I just felt hot all over.
Hope you're doing a little better.

Weird!!! For three nights this week, I had been having night sweats, and during the days I occasionally got some hot flashes/sweating "fits." I went to the doctor yesterday and mentioned it. She didn't seem too concerned yet. I've been on a prednisone taper because of asthma recently, and that can often cause hot flashes.
However, my husband has also been having them... he just said (jokingly, of course) he thinks it's some kind of failed bioterrorism... something was let loose in order to wipe us out, but we're all so tough it only makes us sweat a little

mine are now getting more frequent and are happening along with some signs of perimenopause. so i think i'm on my way.
but i'm still gonna ask my gyn next week when i have my yearly. i've started getting night sweats again. they're nothing compared to what i went through while on lupron, but they do keep me awake at night and do stop me in my tracks occassionally.
good luck to all. it's weird that when we're freezing cold, we can't call up a hot flash to save our lives. but when we're already warm or hot, they happen like nobody's business.holly 35

okay, had my appt with my gyn and asked him about the hot flashes. he said that when your estrogen levels drop, hot flashes will happen. estrogen levels typically drop right before ovulation and right before your period. if they're happening more frequently then you might be anovulatory. apparently that was my problem. the best treatment is to somehow start ovulating again or do synthetic hormones like birth control pills. for me, i'm supposed to do progesterone stuff until i get my cycles back to normal. won't help the estrogen level, so i'll still have hot flashes, but the pain and other things should stop.
we'll see. lol.
just monitor when the hot flashes are happening. if they're happening around the same time every month, it might just be a normal thing for you.holly 35
