We are on a low carb diet at our house --- and contrary to what is in the article, my husband has been able to stop taking Priosec completely. He is feeling better and has more energy, plus the reflux he suffers due to a hiatus hernia has all but disappeared.
Our physician is in favor of our diet.

Very interesting, Donna. My dad went on the low carb diet, too. He started to have some of the bad reactions that are mentioned in the article. After talking with his dr., it was recommended to cut out the high fat meats that some people tend to go for on the diet and eat more of the lean meats and fish. He has been fine ever since and is enjoying the diet. His dr. said that the high fat content for that diet was the main problem for a lot of people. Low and behold, about 6mo. after my dad started that particular diet, it made the news that the diet had to be refined to cut out the high fat meats. Commen sense if you ask me. I guess it just goes to show that everyone is different in how our bodies respond to diets and such once again!
