    Question IC and medication side effects

    Hello everyone. This is my first posting here. I was diagnosed with IC in Nov of 2003 and have been taking Elmiron and Hydroxyzine ever since, the Elmiron 100mg 3xday and other once a day 25mg. Haven't had much improvement and still trying to figure out a diet that works! My concern is side effects. I read somewhere that Elmiron can cause diarrhea. I don't have it really bad but I am getting more concerned because I am now having a lot of lightheadedness, dizzyness and general fatigue, weak in the legs at times and at least twice over the past ten days of tingling in the feet. Talked with the doctor's office today and they suggested I stop taking one of the medications for a week to see if that is causing the diarrhea. Anyone else have these symtoms? Really is getting to be a concern. Don't know if I have become anemic or other problem is developing. Thanks.

    to the icn family i'm sorry elimron isn't working for you it didn't me either but when i went stonger heparin and marcaine treatments daily they helped me but if it works it works. please check out www.ic-network.com/handbook you will find some great information there also if you visit the icn home page www.ic-network.com you will be able to find the link there to the diet and pat. story etc. etc. there is so much great information here on the icn.

    Medicine taken daily or as needed:
    1. Heaprin and Marcaine rescue installment 1 to 3x daily as needed.
    2. MS.Cotin 100mg 3x daily
    3. MSIR 30mg 1 or 2 every 4-6hrs as needed for breakthrew pain.
    4. Fentanyl 100 mg Change every 48hrs.
    5. Gentamicin 80mg install after each rescue treatment
    5 Leviquin 500mg self start as needed.
    6. Klonopin 1 or 2 daily as needed.
    7. Prosed/DS as 1 every 6hrs as needed.





    I have IC, but IC doesn't have me anymore!

    Have you been on both of those meds since November? And your symptoms started only recently?

    Diagnosed August 2001

    Current IC meds: Elmiron (since 2001), Levaquin (one pill after intercourse to prevent UTIs), Effexor (for depression & anxiety)

    Past IC meds: Amitriptyline (Elavil), Hydroxyzine (Vistaril), Detrol LA, Lexapro (for depression & anxiety, but also helped my IC) (They all helped, but I was able to discontinue them.)

    I have problem too but the doc thinks it's IBS and I have fibromyalgia which gives me wired tingling sensations as well as tons of joint pains and a lot of other horrible things. I'd taslk to your doc and do what you have to and figure out whether it's the meds or something else. I hope you figure it out soon. There are other meds you can take that will help.
