Feels like I am peeing razor blades

    Advertisement :
Hello again! I have been doing pretty good for a while now. My kidney stones caused my ic to flare forever. Well Iaat Friday my hubby and I were having sex and the condom broke. Well I started spotting that day but decided to take the morning after pill first choice anyway on Saturday. Well Sunday my problem started. When I pee if feels like I have been sliced up w razor blades and pouring acid on it. It doesn't feel like my regular uti because with those I burn only at the end and it's a different type of burn. I went to my gynecologist on Tuesday. She sent off a ua. And a wet mount. Then told me she wouldn't no anything until next Wednesday over 7 days gave me cipro and that was it. And it is getting worse than better. What can this be? Did the hormones n the morning after pill do this? Is it yeast? She checked me for std's but I have been monogamous. Pyridium doesn't touch the pain.

Well, see what the doctor comes up with next week. In the meantime, unless you have high blood pressure problems, give the glass of water with a half tsp of baking soda a chance. Also try soaking in a warm bath with Epsom salts. Maybe you can get some sleep tonight, hun.

The baking soda and water didnt help I am so worried. When I pee it hurts so bad I feel like I'm going to pass out. Plus I have been on my period for 9 days. Idk if the morning after pill has done this. I'm scared.

You might want to try taking 3 or 4 Tums to see if that helps. There's also AZO, available over the counter. It will turn your urine a bright orange color and stains everything so I suggest panty liners if you try it.

    Sending well wishes,

Re: Feels like I am peeing razor blades

    Hi Dees1977
I realize your post is a couple years old, but wondering if you ever resolved the pain in your urethra with urinating. I too have been suffering from severe acid like feeling at the end of my urethra, especially first thing in the am.

My problem started a year ago after having had a hysterectomy in which I was misdiagnosed. I had never had bladder issues in my life and was only suffering with chronic pelvic pain. Nothing more. After surgey it started with frequency, every 5 minutes, to urgency, and worse pelvic pain than prior to the surgery. Come to find out it was not my uterus and the biopsy showed a healthy, happy organ. I was devestated.

I have tried bladder instills, more pills than I can remember, both prescription and natural, pelvic floor pt, creams, ph water , diet change, no sex, counseling, pain meds , and have seen about 15 doctors or more in the last year. It has destroyed my life and put us in a horrible place financially. I would give anything to go back and not have the surgery and just live with the pelvic pain. The bladder issues are far worse. No sleep, no social life, no traveling, no intimacy, very emotional, scared, and am not much of a mom or wife.

I don't understand how this can be so hard to figure out. Urine samples always comeback clean they say. The pain and urgency are right at the end of my urethra at vaginal opening. I hope you found relief and can give me some insight. Warmly!

I am not the original poster but I had pain, urgency and burning at the same area you described. I went to a good gynecologist and was diagnosed with low estrogen and vaginal atrophy. I now use a vaginal estrogen suppository compounded in coconut oil (could not use commercial estrogen creme because of all the chemicals). The estrogen has been a miracle for me and all pain and frequency gone.

I also follow the IC diet and I found I was allergic to dairy and eliminating dairy helps too.

Hope you find some help soon. Jo Ann

Thank you so much for responding!
I have tried compounded estrogen cream and it did take away the heavy, swollen feeling of my urethra, but since then I have noticed the burning, stinging sensation which is new the past several weeks. I have also used vaginal diazepam suppositories. I am really concerned though as the burning goes from mu urethra all the way into my lower abdomen as well back toward my anal area(sorry tmi

I do think hormones are definitely connected as I did not have IC/Painful Bladder syndrome prior to the hysterectomy. Of course they swear the hysterectomy, catheter, or cysto they did during the procedure did not cause it, yet it was not there prior to surgery. The only other difference was that I came off from birth control pills for a lengthy time, hence perhaps it is hormone related even though I kept my ovaries, I do not feel they are working.

I have suffered for a year now and have a pretty good size pharmaceutical company growing in my closet from prescription to homeopathic. Nothing has helped and we are now buried in debt from doctor visits. I talked to a woman yesterday who said she has lived/slightly managed it for 20 years. I cannot and do not want to even imagine that. There is no way. I don't understand why this is so hard to figure out. I am just so desperate. I am on my way to have a urinalysis done now, which of course will come back clear as always.

Also someone told me that I can check for uti/yeast at home with a kit from the store. I have never had a yeast infection, but willing to check anything at this point. My daughter gets married in four days and I will be traveling for 12. I am just in tears and beside myself.
