what i'm wondering is:
if cranberry juice makes my symptoms better and not worse (knock on wood), is it probable that i don't have IC?
or can some ICers tolerate cranberry just fine?
thanks.

Sorry...
I do not have an answer for you. Cranberry juice is one of those things that most people here have posted that cause them alot of problems (acid). It is not worth the chance that it might be bad for me, so I have not tried it since having my 1st symptom.

:yikes: For most of us with IC, cranberry juice is referred to as the "acid bomb"...I think that most of us stay away from the stuff, but everyone is different...you will only know if you have IC, when your doc deos some testing, and lets you know what the results were. Best of luck! Sheri G

Cranberry juice sets me on fire. The stupid thing is my Uro was the one who told me to drink it and I was drinking the heck out of it and getting worse and worse. When my primary doctor sent me to the IC specialist and he found out how much cranberry juice I was drinking he said he was surprised I hadn't been to the emergency room.
Nothing can say for sure if you really have IC but he proper testing.
I know that I knew I had it from the time they did the diagnostic test and inserted that first catheter. I almost kicked the doctor out of reflex action to the pain. Still, after 9 instillations, I still jump when it is inserted and the pain I have that whole day afterwards is just awful. Hopefully you don't have IC and maybe you just have a sensitive bladder and food or drink is causing it to flare up, but you need to have the proper test to make that determination and if you haven't done it yet, make that appointment as soon as you can. I was lucky and got into a doctor right away. Some of these poor women say they are on a waiting list for months. The healthcare system in the USA needs to be overhauled right now and IC needs to be looked at a whole lot closer.
