    ...and now a lump

I have been battling a nasty flare for a week & 1/2 now. It feels like I'm peeing broken glass & it contines to feel like that for 5 minutes after I quit peeing & 15 minutes later, I'm peeing again! I can't stand it! I've been to the doc - no infection. The past few days I've felt very nausious & I don't know why. Yesterday I started my period, so now I have that to deal with & now a lump. This morning I woke up & noticed that it hurt when I put my right arm down. I felt my armpit & noticed that I have a lump there that is real sore. What the heck is this? Should I be concerned? OHHHHHH! If it's not one thing - it's 20!

    (((hugs)))

i used to always get a very painful lump in my armpit during my periods. it always went away. but last october i got another lump in my armpit that didn't go away and felt wrong. doc looked at it and ordered a sono and mammo. it was extra breast tissue. whew. apparently it's been there all along, but i only noticed it when i dropped so much weight. but it was so scary to have to go to the mammo place and get that done.

do get it checked though. even when mine came and went, my doc wanted to check it out every now and then.

i hope it's nothing. but i know you're probably scared to death. it's the not knowing that scares you the most.

I would get it checked. It's better to be sure of the cause. It's probably nothing serious but I bet you'll feel better if you check. Take care - Chris

Definately get the lump checked out. It can be as simple as an inflamed hair follicle from shaving to something more serious. I hope you get feeling better soon.

I have had those armpit lumps before --- it can be scary, but they usually aren't significant. In my case they were just plain old boils --- I do agree that you need to ask your doctor about it.

    Sending encouraging hugs,

As the day has progressed, I have developed one of those lumps on my other armpit now. I'm sure that it's my nodes now - not anything serious that needs checked. You do have lymph nodes there, right? I'm still wondering why they're swelled up, though.

Holles, did your dr. tell you why you got these lumps during your period?

    Thanks everyone,

karm, he said it could just be infection. sometimes during our periods, our immune systems are working on fighting off other infections, so we tend to get swollen lymph nodes. after we dx endo, he was concerned because endo can get into the lymph system. that's why he ordered the mammo and sono last fall. i get lumps in my breasts too, but they always go away.

my doc told me that it could be a plugged hair follicle (not likely in my case as i laser my pits), a simple cyst like the ones in my breast, a swollen lymph node, a "bad" mass, or an anatomical abnormality (like the extra breast tissue).

when's your appt (that's your cue to call your doctor )?

OK. OK. I'll call the doc tomorrow. Thanks everyone for giving me that extra push that I needed. My usual self would wait a month & see if the lumps went away on their own, but I know that you all are telling me to do the right thing & I appreciate it.

Which doc do I see about this? You know, now that I'm thinking about it, my gyn always feels my armpits when I have my pap. Is this why? I'm afraid that if I set the appt. with her that it'll be 2 months before I get in to see her, though. I guess I'd better just call my primary. I've been concerned about endo lately also. I had never heard about it until I came to this website & saw the connection between endo & IC. I've been thinking that something else is going on with me because I have a lot of major pain down there & my uro lazered all the nerves in my trigone & my pain is still the same. So, I'm thinking, it's obviously not my bladder causing all the pain. I know that it's not anything that can be seen with an ultrasound either because I had one of those in Dec. I'm wondering...endo?

if it was me i would call my primary doctor first to see what they had to say then if they think you need to call your gyn they will make sure you get an appt asap.
this way you know you will get seen quicker.
Please let us know how things are.
    we care and love you.

i usually call my gyn about this stuff because he always fits me in no matter what. my primary care isn't my favorite person anyway. whoever you're more comfortable with doing a breast exam is who you should call. jmo.

With my HMO, it's definitely my primary care doc who gets the first call.

Well, the saga continues. Last week, my psychiatrist put me on a new anti-depressant. This morning I was reading the side effects & it said 'Contact your doctor if you notice any of the side effects listed below' & swollen lymph nodes was on that list. It said that was a sign of an allergic reaction to the med. So now I'm wondering if this is the reason why I'm feeling so sick. I have an appt. with my primary tomorrow, so I will let you all know how it goes. I also made an appt. with my gyn to talk about getting on bcp (the one where you don't have a period monthly) & endo. Luckily, I can get in with her next week. This is a true blessing because it usually takes a couple months to get into my gyn. I believe God has opened that door for me to get in so soon. I am lucky enough to have a PPO, so seeing my primary first isn't a concern for me & usually doesn't even cross my mind.

    Thanks again!
