Post UTI Flare
My bladder is still giving me a lot of grief in the aftermath of a very painful uti.
I'm still experieincing heavy duty burning during urination and my frequency is still driving me crazy. The Uti was offically declared gone this past Tuesday after about a 3 week ordeal My uro said it's common to have a lingering flare after an infection clears up. I just want my sensitive bladder to calm down enough so I can get back enjoying my life without the constant aggrivation that goes with having a bladder problem. I'm skipping church this morning due to the constant peeing.
I was wondering how long it takes for some of you to recover from a really bad uti? My patience is running low.

How long the post UTI flare lasts can vary for everyone.
We tend to have vey sensative bladders, and even with the UTI gone there can still be some bacteria left but not enough to be a UTI, but for use enough to bother your bladder.
I would try OTC AZO, baking soda, antihistamine, and follow the diet very closely. Your bladder needs time to calm down.
Hope you feel better soon, if it continues too long go get restested for a UTI again.

I woke up this morning feeling quite a bit netter and now tonight I'm feeling much better. I've been using the otc AZO quite a bit lately with mixed results. I tried baking soda after dinner and it has helped ease the burning some. Thanks for the tip. I had a decent day at work. (less frequency) Hopefully this uti/flare situation is winding down.

Major Setback (Food Flare)
I had a really good bladder day today and felt like I could handle a taco salad and chips (without salsa) at my favorite Mexican resturaunt with my husband.
I ordered the same exact salad that hasn't bothered me before but I guess this time the ingredients were different and within an hour my bladder was screaming bloody murder. I hate what this disease does to make ones bladder so stinking sensitive. I've been peeing every 20 to 30 minutes and the burning is on the increase. I suppose my bladder has not healed from my uti. My period is due within in day or two that is libel not help with the healing. I want this disease to go away and never come back.Rebekah - Diagnosed with IC and Hunner's Ulcers in March 2009

I am currently in the same situation as you. I had a UTI that it took 3 rounds of antibiotics to clear and now I am in the middle of a flare. I took Cipro, felt great, 10 days later the infection was back. Took Macrobid, felt great, 7 days later the symptoms were back. Took Macrobid again, but this time the symptoms never really went away. My urine was tested twice afterward and it was clear, not even white blood cells. I have been in this flare for 5 weeks so far. I am sticking to the IC diet, even though Im usually not diet sensitive, and taking prelief with every meal. I am also taking d-mannose daily to prevent any further infections. My dr said it can take 6-8 weeks for the bladder inflammation/irritation to calm down. If after 3 more weeks I still feel like this I am going back, I may get another hydro since those seem to work for me. I am starting to make a connection between my flares and antibiotics. Good luck, and I would be interested to know when your flare subsides.

I always find after taking Ab's for UTI I feel much better, but the UTI leaves my bladder very sensatvie for weeks afterwards, and me wiped out.
I am on the last couple of days of Levo for a UTI, as far as infection goes it feels much better, my temp is down, pain is down, frequency is down, but my bladder is quit sensative and I am still completely wiped out.
I do well in the am, I usally start my day about 6 am, but by 4-5pm I loose all steam, I could easily go to bed then for the night. I am having to make dinner earlier in the day so everyone can just heat it up when dinner time comes or I make supper in the croakpot so it is ready anytime, I just can't muster up the energy to make supper.
It doesn't help that I got a flu on top of the UTI, I was just starting to feel better and then felt like a ton of bricks hit me, turns out I got the flu as well.
I see my Dr. next week as soon as I finish the AB's, if I am still feeling so rough he will do another urine test and some blood test. I am pretty sure though it is just taking me a while to recover completely.
Good days to all MG
