Could this be IC? What were your symptoms?

    Here is my story.

A month ago, I was in the minor ER with slightly painful urination. It just felt like something was off down there. The dr. said no UTI via urinalysis and sent the urine off for a culture. The results came back + for group B strep, but he said that this was not the source of my pain.

I followed up with my gyn. (the one available in my gyn's office anyway) who dx me with Bacterial Vaginosis. She gave me metro tablets and I got no better with my pain. I also had burning when I wipe.

I went back to my real gyno and she said that the problem was, that I had not been treated properly for the Group B UTI that I had originally. She gave me Bactrim. I finished the whole course and got no better.

After all this, I had severe itching down there and had a lot of redness and raw areas. Went back to the gyn who said it was probably from a yeast infection and gave me an ointment. It is much better since then. To be safe, she sent off a vaginal swab testing for everything under the sun, even STDs.

I was worried sick thinking "why the heck would I have an STD? I am married and monogomous", etc. Made me think "is my husband cheating? NO WAY! I trust him and didn't think this was the case.

Anyway, test results ALL came back normal and clear, thankfully. I was VERY relieved. So, the drs have eliminated my pain being caused by a gynecological issue and think it is a urological issue.

I have an apt. tomorrow w/ a urologist and he will perform a cystoscopy. I am a bit nervous and hope that this is nothing serious!

    Anyway, my symptoms are:

burning at the end of urinating
    burning when wiping
sensitivity to ANY soap down there, can only use water suddenly

my stream is a normal long stream, not too much urgency to urinate, but wake up a couple of times a night. a lot comes out, not just a little. and it isn't painful til the end of the stream. symptoms seem to get worse with acidic foods and alcohol. seem to improve when i take a probiotic.

what do you think? could this be IC? I am at a loss. What were your symptoms?

    Thank you so much.

You sound exactly like me. I have a history of BV, UTI's and yeast infections. I was recently diagnosed with IC. Please go see the urologist! Hopefully, your uro will be a good one, who is IC sympathetic and is concerned with your well-being. I really hope they find out what's going on with you! I know first-hand out miserable it all is. Will say a prayer for you!
