As close to cure as I will get :D

Hi Folks I hope everyone is doing ok on here although I know when I first started reading on this site I was pretty depressed and upset about how out of control IC was in my life. I cope with IC still and am far from healed or cured BUT I for the past 60 DAYS have been doing an aspirin experiment. I want to make it clear I am not recommending everyone do this but it has made my life so much more pleasant and liveable. I have been taking 12 aspirin a day now for two months! This as I said has not cured me, and I am still...and was...and am now at a point that cure was not my priority, just some normalcy. Anyway My last nasty truly deblitating flare was a few days before I began my max dosing on aspirin. So yes, I am popping aspirin like candy pretty much...I am a 22 yr old male so as for the long term this may or may not be a viable option but I am taking coated ecotrin tablet aspirin and always on a full gut! It is so strange, my uro for a while put me on a few different anti inflammitory pills and i got no relief only severe intestinal pain. Aspirin will sting every now and then but the coated tablets on a full stomach really do help me and the side effects are definetly worth the amazing benefits! I have taken as many as 16 aspirin in a day and that is the point where i start experiencing nausea. All in all the approach seems a little extreme i know 12 aspirin a day BUT going to the restroom 20-25 times a day compared to 8-12 is a pretty big difference Oh and I will say that flare "ups" occur but not nearly with the vengenance they do when i am not on my aspirin. after fighting this for years i am so pumped to finally have discovered something that atleast mitigates the pain and frequency...so this is not a cure, i still pee more than pretty much anyone i know but if your ic was like mine and just running out of control with doctors telling you its not a big deal or that its just because your high strung...aspirin may not be a bad bet. just always take it on a full gut and take ecotrin coated ones...a little more costly but worth it, for the long term. Here is hoping and praying for everyone on this site to find atleast a little relief from this cross we carry. -Dylan

A big caution on this approach!! Absolutely DO NOT exceed the maximum dosage on ANY medication without your doctor's knowledge and agreement, especially if you take other medications...

Aspirin can also be irritating to an IC bladder.
