Please help in Pain
Hi all,
I am new to this great forum.
Unfortunately I live in England so that sucks in terms of IC a little.
I have frequency which is being treat with Cystitstat. (on 3rd instillation)
My main problem is some burning.
I wondered if people could help me with it.
I personally think it might be something to do with my nerves, but i have not been diagnosed with IC for that long so am looking for advice.
It is burning that can come on at any time and last for hours. It has took me a while to work out what i think tiggers it, I originally thought it was urine burn but it does not burn when i urinate or after. Very rarely my urine can be warm.
However I have noticed that when I firmly touch anything in this area- e.g bottom of the libias (inner or outer), or external end of urethra this brings the burning on in any of the areas i touch that last for hours. It doesnt seem to effect the libias directly- just the base of everything, like where my urethra is.
Does any one know what this is or has experienced it?
I don't know what to do about it it drives me mad and seems to also be set off by sitting too long on it through the day.
All my GP says is he doesnt know what it is.
Please help!

I am sorry you are going through this. It sounds like you may have vulvadynia. Thia is a condition that causes burning and itchiness down in the vulva area of the female region. I dealt with this in the beginning of this whole IC mess. I could never figure out what made it trigger. Do you also have pain in your bladder? I hope you get to feeling better soon.

Hi Jen thanks for replying.
I thought it might be Vulvadynia as well but i dont have any pain near the vagina. Just external pain from urethra upwards and on both inner and outer of labia's and a little internal about 1/3 of my urethra. I don't have any itching just burning. Can it still be this based on my symptoms?
Can i ask how you managed to get rid of it or did it just go on its own? It drives me mad, although thankfully i dont have any bladder pain as such more frequency and my bladder feels tender and tingly rather than painful which i feel thankful about.
Thanks for you best wishes

I went to a gyne and she put me on that pill called flagyl. It helped some, but not completely. Then it just went away and would come and go periodically. Have you tried ice packs? Some people get relief using ice. Sorry you are dealing with this. I hope you get better soon.

do you think i should go back to the Gyne? Last time I saw her she thought it was a nerve thing.
I really don't know who to see about it, the urologist doesnt seem to want to know?
With my symptoms above do you think it could definately be this?
Thanks
Kelly

Pelvic Floor Dysfunction
I have problems with sitting. My pelvic floor muscle tighten all the time. My bladder stays unhappy which causes my pelvic muscles to tighten. I had the same symptoms when the urethral sphincter muscle would tighten. Check out the Pelvic Floor Dysfunction articles on the IC site.
Diagnosis: Endometriosis, IC, PID, PCS, PFD, VV, Extremely Dry Vulva, Pelvic Adhesions, Degenerative Disk Disease, Hysterectomy at a young age. Unable to take estrogen, causes pain—extremely bad pain.
Medication: Gabapentin 800mg, Hydrocodone, Hydroxyzine, Prelief, Klonopin.
Best Friends: Empi IF 3WAVE IC Program and Bladder and Prostate Friendly Chair Cushion. The chair Jill recommends. Medicine that really helps my pain associated with PFD: Klonopin. Crisco, Gene's Cream for Vulva dryness.
Thankful: For all the support and comfort I receive on this site.
