    How to get Diagnosis?

    Hey everyone,

I'm a 32 year old male. Been expereince frequency for years. Nothing that I thought was alarming. Just thought I had over active bladder. 3 weeks ago one morning after driving to work I started to get a constant urge to urinate which has remained steady since. I have had all tests. Urinalysis, urine cultures, prostate exam, cystoscopy. All have come back normal with no reason for my symptoms. I don't seem to have any pain other than than slight discomfort or sensitivity in my testicles. My urge is ever present and very extreme, with me peeing 4-5 times an hour.

I have seen one Uro who does not believe in IC for men. I have booked another appointment with another Uro for second opinion. Also been following the IC diet to the best of my understanding, and haven't really seen much improvement. I don't know what else to do.

My main question is? 1) Could this be IC with no pain just extreme frequency?

I am sorry you are dealing with this. I have to say that when it comes to the term IC, and when a doctor tells you that you have IC, basically all it means is " you bladder is irritated and we do not know why". IC is just a name, just like IBS is. All IBS means is that your intestines are a mess and they have no clue as to why. They just have to put a name on it. So yes, you can have IC. IC is a term that is thrown around when there is no other reasonable explanation for your symptoms. Anyone can get IC, male or female. The uro you seen who does not believe men can have IC needs to go back to school and educate himself and get himself updated!!

If I were you, maybe see if you can get into see a different urologist. Make sure you get copies of all your labs and tests so you can bring them with you. What kind of treatment did this uro you are seeing prescribe to you? If he thinks you do not have IC, what does he think you have?

    Jen
