Strange Flare-Does this happen to any1?

Hi Im quite new to ic and do not fully understand how flares operate yet! Ive been in a flare for just over a week. I think it was caused by intercourse. Some of the days its not as bad and feels like it's going but then later on in the day or the next day when I wake up, it will reappear. This happens mainly in the evening between about 8-10pm. I'll get bad pressure and need to go every 5 mins. I was wondering if anybody else's flares are up and down like this. Since starting Cystoprotek, Ive not had a flare, this is my first proper one and Im wondering when it will pass. One last thing- how long do your flares caused by sex usually last?

    Thanks

My sex flares can last from 24 hours to about 2 days! I have to do a particular ritual to keep from going into one. I hate it because it takes the excitement out of being with your hubby or boyfriend.

Thanks for your reply. Can I ask what your ritual is?

I don't know if this will help shed light on your current situation or not, but I was wondering: what time do you eat dinner at?

I ask because maybe you are having flares in reaction to eating a bigger meal in the evening.

For myself, if I am in a flare cycle, regardless what caused it, I always get the flare symptoms after I eat dinner. I think that it is because I eat small meals and snacks during the day, so my bladder isn't being irritated by my stomach/bowel, but when I have dinner, it is usually one big meal, that ends up giving me pain and frequency.

Don't know if something similar is happening to you, but reading your initial post really reminded me of my own symptoms. My IBS causes at least half of my IC-pain and I'm only know starting to figure out how to avoid the same flare cycles from happening. Basically, I try to avoid drinking anything before, during, and after dinner (to digest better) and have been making great efforts to eat more balanced meals throughout the day.
    Me: Canadian. 31.

IC symptoms: Cramping, burning, frequency. Pain!

Pain management: Ibuprofen. AZO. Marijuana. Prelief. The IC Diet.

I also have times of the day that are worse for me. Usually right before bed... I probably pee 10 times before I actually fall asleep.
I am the mother to my beautiful son Parker Thomas.
I have had IC for 10 years, and I also have migraines, endometriosis, pelvic adhesions, osteopenia, peptic ulcers, fibromyalgia, and PFD.
I am currently prescribed Effexor XR 150 for depression/anxiety, 50mcg Fentanyl patch, Percocet for breakthrough pain, Klonipin for sleep and anxiety, and d-amphetamine salt xl for ADHD and excessive daytime sleepiness due to my pain meds, Pyridium, 10 mg of Valium (inserted vaginally to relax pelvic floor muscles, and I do bladder instillations once a day consisting of a mixture of 3cc Sodium Bicarbonate, 5CC Lidocane, & 22cc of Heparin. I also regularly use a prescribed TENS unit for pelvic pain, along with lots of rest in bed with my four, four-legged furry friends. (I once heard called "fur-therapy")
There is always something beautiful around you, sometimes you just have to look for it!
