Does anyone bloat from caffix (chicory)?

So I bought some caffix and some roastaroma to replace some of my coffee. I found I was getting stomach pain as the day went on and some bloating. I ended up popping more omeprazole and/or pepcid to deal with it. Finally it dawned on me that chicory root is a huge source of inulin which I can't tolerate at all. I don't know if its related to my IBS-C but I have major problems with sugar alcohols too, i.e., sorbitol - like whats in sugar free gums etc, maltitol etc.
Is it just me? Do any of you experience this? Its so frustrating because I'm trying to find alternatives to drink on cold days and I can't tolerate them either though for different reasons.

Has anyone tried making cocoa out of carob powder? and is it any good?

My IBS-C can't handle the sugar alcohols either. I've never tried caffix but I drink roastaroma in the mornings with no problem. If I've accidentally had soribitol, xylitol or any artificial sweetener (plus a wide variety of other foods!) I bloat like crazy and there's nothing for me to do except wait it out. I would think that the chicory is most likely your problem. That stinks. Sorry.

I'll try the roastaroma by itself again but I'm afraid it will do it too The last time I had it though I added caffix to it to make it taste more like coffee..
There are so many things that bloat me though I have found cutting out major amounts of fruit and the yogurt has helped that quite a bit. I also have to stay away from whole grains even though they're supposed to be good for you.

I swear the two are connected, IBS and IC. I developed both of them in my 20's and had anxiety at the same time too.

I agree about the whole grain/fiber thing. I have to skip it or I'm in pain!! Try the roastaroma alone and just let it steep for a while longer. It's certainly not coffee, but it's not bad once you get used to it. And so far, everything else I've tried has either made me bloat or hurt my bladder. And I also think IC and IBS are somehow connected. It seems a lot of people have both. Good luck with the "coffee"!!!
