    Exclamation I need help....

My name is Karen and I live in southeast Kentucky. I was diagnosed in 1991 and have never really had anything to help me. I have seen over 10 different specialists and tried everything. I have even had two interstims. Is this normal, or do some of you actually get back to feeling like a normal human again? I started out very optimistic but have pretty much given up. I am doing home intillations now and do feel somewhat better. But FAR from normal. I don't even really remember what it is like to be normal. I must be doing something wrong or something. I have read and read, bought and bought, and am still miserable. I finally gave up and got my social security disability. But I just want to be well.

What treatments have you tried? Are you following an IC diet?

I'd also like you to feel better.

I am not a medical authority nor do I offer medical advice. In all cases, I strongly encourage you to discuss your medical treatment with your personal medical care provider. Only they can, and should, give medical recommendations to you.

Thanks for replying. I am new to this forum and kind of confused. I have tried various cocktails that I don't even know what all was in them, the doctors didn't see fit to let me know most of it. I had a very bad experience with Silver Nitrate though. I have tried:
    Toviaz
    DMSO
    ditropan
    cystospaz
    enablex
    elmiron
    sanctura
    elavil
    effexor
    prozac
    ancient chinese medicine
    naet treatments
I can't even remember them all. I am doing the diet. I can tell there are a lot of things that make me worse. Stress is very bad and I have a problem with stress and depression. I am currently taking Tramadol, Welbutrin, Synthroid, Pristiq and Premarin. This is my dailies. I have also had a hysterecomy. Please excuse my spelling. I am not good at that.

    Hi lekstorm,
Just by reading through your current meds, it appears that you have multiple health issues on top of your IC. I am assuming that you see more than one doctor because you need specialists in a few different areas of medicine? If I am right, this must make things very difficult for you. My personal experience of Tramadol was bad. I was prescribed this for migraine and I only took it for 1 day. It made me so drowsy and sick without even getting close to helping my pain. It is not a good drug to take long term. Premarin carries significant cancer risks and your doctors should be advising you about those. You really need to have one doctor who is overseeing everything. In Australia we usually have a general practitioner who is the doctor who refers us to the specialists. He or she gets letters back from the specialists. Is that how the system works in the US? This doctor could then work out if the drug regime is working properly.
    Regards,
    Linda
