I had never heard of her. By the way, I am trying to look her up now. I just noticed she does deal with bladder problems and female urology.(and whatever robotic surgery is)OK. I am not gonna look up robotic surgery right now.

Well my moms friend said that she got her number from a friend that was misdiagnosed with IC for three years and this doctor CURED her! Turns out it had something to do with her birth control pills or something. I dont know but I thought I would share. every little bit can help

That person may not have any IC type symptoms any longer. I don't really know. I do know you had stated it had something to do with her birth control. First of all, there is no known cure for IC. Maybe she did not have actual IC. Second of all, I am a dude. (as in no birth control) OK. If she was curing IC'ers, then I would most likely have known about her sooner. Oh! It would have made the news by now. I would figure. She still must be good. Yep!

maybe I should have rephrased what I said. The woman apparently was misdiagnosed with IC for two years. and then they found out that it had something to do with her birth control. I dont know. It must be really hard being a guy with this. I know how bad it is being a female but being a dude I am sure you must find less support from your male friends. Its hard for people to understand the pain we feel on a day to day basis. I have been in constant pain (or flare) for over 2 years. I have been to the best IC doctors in the country and have been met with nothing but dissappointment. I have had two cysto hydros that confirmed IC and have gotton no releif from that. I have the interstim with minimal relief and I have taken every medication, every treatment including DSMO and Markain injections with no relief! Its really been a nightmare.
I just thought I would share the doctor with everyone here. You never know. I dont think there is much to be done and I never hear any new news of an upcoming cure that they are working on. It would be amazing if this happened I just have pretty much lost faith. but miracles do happen.

    Hi Angela,

Have you thought about possibly trying Uracyst? I know it doesn't help everyone, but it seems to have helped so many. Dr. M had no other thoughts or ideas? Sorry you're suffering:-(

    Hey Jill,

I kinda had a bad expierience with Dr. M after a recent surgery I had with him. Lets just say to keep it clean his bed side manner was lacking and he wasnt very sensitive to my situation. I have never tried uracyst! Is it a perscription? I will have my doctor write the script right away if it is! any help on this would be great.
You are always so sweet and helpful jill! I got turned off to the site a while back after I felt like some people were discouraging me rather than encouraging me. But you are always very supportive! Sometimes its just nice to hear someone say " I am sorry you are suffering.

    Hi,

Thanks for the kind words. I'm sorry that you have felt unsupported in the past:-( To feel that way is certainly no fun.
Uracyst is an instillation of chondrotian sulfate. It's supposed to be very soothing and is approved in Europe and Canada. It recently was put in a small clinical trial here, but it seemed to lack meaningful results. It sounds like it may not have been run as well as it could have been in my opinion from what I've heard. You can get it directly from Canada yourself. I have a girlfriend here on the boards who's doctor here in the U.S. writes her a prescription for it from Canada, so it can be done that way too. It makes a bit more cost effective. If you look at the studies that Dr. Nickel in Canada was involved in, the results were actually quite good:-) I think they showed a success rate of 60% after 6 months. That's not bad for an IC med. I hope this instill somehow makes it through with FDA approval. It certainly deserves to be seeing how it has been shown to be effective for a good percentage.
