Post Op Pouch Leakage
I am starting this new thread as the other one is getting quite long. Two of you have asked about post op leakage, how long does it last, etc. This is tough to answer- there are many different reasons why this can happen, one of them being the pouch is still new. I can tell you that in many cases it will get better over time and if it does not then it should evaluated by your surgeon. My own pouch still leaks after 18 years, but I was told that if they tried to fix it, it may end up bring worse, so I have found ways to handle it. If you are totally getting soaked and have large amounts of urine coming out then you may want to try using an ostomy pouch over your stoma to catch this over flow. Use the two piece type so you can take the pouch off to cath yourself. I personally just use additional coverings over my stoma so that any leakage does not get my clothes damp.
