quite smoking and foods....
HI eveyone. I need to quit smoking and don't even enjoy it anymore but still doesn't make it easy. My problem: everything I read about quitting tells you to suck on hard candy, drink plenty of fruit juice (hurts just thinking of that one) eat lots of raw vegetable. It seems everything they say I should do to make this easier are foods my bladder cannot tolerate. I feel defeated. If the foods don't affects my bladder than they affect my IBS. If anyone has ANY suggestions, please let me know. I don't want to use any nicotine replacement and I cannot tolerate Chantix. What a dilema!

Sometimes a nicotine replacement program works. I know I had tried to quit many, many times without success. When they came out with nicotine gum, I decided to give it a try. It worked for me! That was well over twenty years ago and I have absolutely no desire to smoke.
Some people do manage to quit "cold turkey" but not many. I did have a friend who saw a hypnotist and was able to quit that way, but it was even more expensive than my Nicorette gum.
Good luck!

I quit 2 years ago when I got pregnant, and the only thing that helped, sort of was suckers, lol. My bladder was fine with hard candies for the most part. For me though, there really wasn't any food that would be better over another, I drank extra water (instead of juice etc), ate veggies that were ok to my bladder like carrot sticks and celery, made dips out of cottage cheese blended up in the blender with herbs to dip my veggies in etc. But there never really was anything food-wise that made it easier, so just stick with what works for your bladder - I don't think it will know the difference nor will your smoking habit, lol. I too had tried many many times before, even quit for a year once, it was the same then, suckers were my thing - and lots of water to keep nearby for my hands to grab, lol.
I didn't use any quitting aids, so in that dept I can't comment, I actually did quit cold turkey and being hormonal at the same time made a cranky crazy girl for a week or so, lol.
Hugs,
Tracey
