Been a horrible day! Heres some info i found out today and thought id share!
Ok so first off the last few days haven't been too bad...not a lot of urgency but some. Last night? Terrible urge to pee all night long. This morning I called my urologist and went in. They did a urine culture which came back positive for white cells but nothing else. They are sending it off for further testing. The nurse I saw told me that you can actually test positive for white cells in your urine almost all the time with IC because theres bleeding in your bladder that causes the count to go up. Doesn't always mean you have an infection, but they are finding that more and more. She did put me on Bactrim...low dose for the next few weeks. Know why? Her theory is that antibiotics can help a lot of people with IC even when they don't have an infection because of the anti inflammatory properties in it. They don't like to put you on them a lot but from time to time they do to keep down any bacteria that can build up. Thought that was interesting.
So then they did a resuce solution into my bladder. Every time they do that, the catheter irritates the heck out of my urethra. Its still irritated tonight!
Then i had an ultrasound of my kidneys and renal glands. That was fun...not. I had to have a full bladder.. no biggie. But even when i emptied it the technologist looked again and said that for some reason my intestinal tract retains a LOT of fluid! I asked her if thats just because I had a lot to drink and she said no....you just seem to really retain it . Wondering if thats whats causing part of my side pain??
So anyone else get put on antibiotics all the time? Had problems with the catheter during instills? Maybe im just weird.

caths hurt me so much i cry every time they use one on me and for several days after i bleed and it hurts to pee. i get the side pain (flank pain) all the time, it has been a couple months since i have been in to see the urologist, and my side pain doesn't go away, i know my kidneys are what is hurting me but i am not sure why.

Is your flank pain on the right or left side? I don't know why catheters irritate us so much when its supposed to be injecting medicine that should actually help ya know? Did they test your kidneys?
