My Story
Hi,
My Story is like many of yours I'm sure. I'm a 28 year old stay at home Mom. I have severe IC and am in pain nearly every day. I no longer take Elmiron because I kept getting sick from it. I was on Elivil but now on Zoloft. I take pain pills almost everyday. I wake up about three to six times a night so I'm always tierd. I have gotten to the point that car rides are impossible to handle. Anything longer than about 15 min is so painful. House work can get me in pain. Walking, stairs, lifting, car rides are painful. Sometimes I wake up in so much pain I can't do anything at all. I have a kidney disease that has caused me to lose a kidney so I am on disability. If I had to work I don't know what I would do. I don't think I could even make the car ride to work. I'm hoping I can find better ways to deal with this pain. I have the hydrodistilations(sp?) about every three months. What are the ways you guys deal with paina nd what treatments are there that work?

Tara! Welcome to the ICN!! I am also a stay at home mother of a two year old...I know it can be very difficult at times. I don't often have alot of pain..thank goodness..I take elmiron and it seems to help me alot.
I hope you and your doctor find the right meds for you and you can start leading a somewhat normal life again.......It's hard chasing babies and being in pain!
I hope to see you around the boards...
Tons of support,
Jaime

Hi, I am a mom of 2 children ages 13 and 9. I am 33 years old and I have had IC since the age of 19. I had to go from working a full time job to a part-time job. I have the Interstim right now and have had it for 2 years and it is not working for me. I am going to another doctor on Friday who is going to set me up for a temporary pain pump to see how it does. If it helps me I will have it permanantly implanted. I am currently on 50mgs of Fentynol that is in a patch. It gives me little to no releif. I am so looking forward to trying the pain pump. Maybe this will work. If it doesn't I will have to go on disability. It is very hard to work in this much pain. I am on FMLA (family medical leave). I take it intermittantly. I take a day or more whenever I need to. I can take up to 12 weeks off. If I have to be out more than that I would lose my job. I can understand that since it wouldn't be worth it to work anyway if I can't make it in much. I have been having a really hard time lately. I feel as if I am just getting worse and worse. Someday's I can't get out of bed. Anyway. I really hope you find some relief soon. I always pray for this group of friends at ICN.
Hope you feel better soon!!!!
