For those of you who've tried Vicoprofen
Hi all - I posted a few times about being concerned with the amount of tylenol in VicodinXL once my liver enzymes were slightly elevated (although it could have been from a Gallbladder Removal, DMSO treatment etc.) so I was looking for suggestions as I also have a gastric ulcer so just about everything else was off limits. After talking with my gastrologist he said he could always treat my stomach, but worried more about the liver and an anti-inflammatory may help so my PCP switched me to Vicoprofen. This has 7.5mg hydrocodone and 200mg Ibuprofen.
When I was on Vicodin XL (7.5 mg hydrocodone and 750 mg tylenol) I used to take a half a pill about 4 times a day and 6 if I had sex. However, since starting the Vicoprofen I take the whole pill and it still doesn't seem to help as much with the pain. I am guessing this is because acetominophen was a better ingredient as far as making the hydrocodone more active or so I read. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue? Or tried anything else that's worked better? I thought it may help more because of the anti-inflammatory, but maybe 200 mg isn't enough for that. I don't want to take more because of my ulcer. My pcp is still soo against me going to a pain management clinic at my age since she's willing to try everything and I also want to save some things to use down the road so I don't become dependent too soon and have nothing to turn to...so anywho, anyone else feel Vicoprofen isn't quite as good for the pain?
Thanks in advance

Hey there and welcome
I'm fairly new as well (to posting that is, been viewing for years) and folks have been really helpful. I just feel the Vicodin ES worked so much better with less actual hydrocodone (as I mentioned I took half of the Vicodin ES (3.25 mg compared to a whole Vicoprofen 7.5) and don't get the same relief. I dont' know, maybe i'm just adjusting to it.
I actually finished my undergrad at Millersville - and my first roomate (from Philly, not Lancaster oddly enough) lives in Lancaster with her adorable girls. Gotta love the shopping!I am 26 years old with IC, PFD, Vulvodynia and Vulvar Vestibulitis, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue and Immune Dysfunction Syndrome, Myofascial Pain Syndrome, Urethral pain syndrome, coccydinia, IBS amongst a few other things.
