TTC and living with IC
I got diagnosed 7/09 with IC after living with symptoms for several years. My husband and I are currently trying to conceive (ttc) but the flare ups are starting to get worse as time goes on. This is our 3rd attempt at ttc as with the other 2 times I had to get back on the pill due to the pain. I am really trying my best to stick with the IC diet to control my flare ups. I can't wait to get pregnant and be blessed with a bundle of joy. Does anyone have any advise to help manage the pain while ttc?
I would love any suggestions or feeback. This is suppose to be a joyful experience but instead it's a very painful one : (

Utilize non-medicinal therapies to help with your symptoms when you can, like warm baths, heating pad or even cool packs if those help. I just had a baby Oct. 2. You might also try keeping track of your cycle if you're not so you can figure out the best time to try and concentrate your efforts around that time of the month if intimacy makes you flare.
Diet is definitely a big thing, too.
You might talk to your doctor about what meds you can take until you actually get pregnant. I ended up being able to go off all my bladder meds when TTC, but I'd been on them for years and my IC was pretty much under control at that point. I think that may have made a difference.
I'm not sure that was very helpful!

i was going to suggest the same thing as above. i would talk to your dr to see what you can take until you are actually able to conceive....it maybe be the next few days or it could take a few months. either is normal, but the later is very hard if you are hurting so bad! this is also a little tmi, but while it's not very romantic, your partner really only needs to be in for the, ahem, end. just slipping in last min can really make your pain level different. good luck!!!!! please let us know!!!

Daughter, Brenna (7) also diagnosed based on symptoms 2009. Symptom free most of the time on just 2 cystoprotek daily!!!!
**Trentin is here!!!! he arrived may 26th. 8lbs 2oz. 21.5inches long.
**off these due to breastfeeding:
Elavil - 30mg nightly
Aterax - 10mg daily
Nature's Way MSM -3000mg daily
Nuva Ring - LOVE it! i would recommend it in a heartbeat!
**still on**
IC diet
Elmiron - 400mg daily - started 08/04/08
Cystoprotek - 4 daily - started 03/08
DH aloe vera - 4 daily - started 04/08
Culturelle probiotic - 1 nightly

these ladies have it in the bag - anything to relax your muscles, especially warm baths and heating pads...
I came off the pill in Dec and then Vesicare in Jan (about 2 weeks apart) and the pain was unbearable
I stuck it out and gradually got better...then my period hit last week and that was even worse! but I stuck it out, stayed off my feet as much as I could (with a 2 yr old and a job!) and got through that...but when we start TTC next week for our 2nd, I will be taking extra care before and after - heat REALLY helps me, and being on rest as much as possible...I am sure there is something your doctor could recommend that would be safe if it really came down to it...

Thanks ladies! I actually haven't had much pain (knock on wood):woohoo: I am a bath junkie so anytime I feel pain coming on that's always where I go first.
Unfortunately when TTC they suggest you not use heating pads or take hot baths because the ovaries are suppose to remain cool at all times. I've been off the pill for about 4 months now and have been really calculating everything. Hopefully it happens soon
