I had to go for an ultrasound today and it was miserable. Since I have had 3 of them over the last 2 months I know the drill. Drink 40 oz of water. I thought I was improving in the last month but today the ultrasound got things going. My bladder was very sore when they pressed on it and I could hardly bare to lie there with the burning and discomfort. Afterwards I started going to the washroom 5 times an hour. We got caught in heavy traffic and the burning and urge got terrrible. Fortunately I was wearing a pad and I had to release some urine. The hour drive home was awful. Terrible burning that had no release. Funny I find that I get relief if I can use a washroom but none was available in bumper to bumper traffic.

It was such a relief to get home. Then I had to take my Elmiron and hour or so later the abdominal pain and sickness took over for a couple of hours. I think I am going to take a few days break from the Elmiron and see if I start to feel better. Although I am persisting with the drug I have serious doubts of whether it is going to do me any good. The Enablex has been like a miracle for me. It has worked so well in stopping the constant need for urination. These two drugs cost me $300 per month so I do expect some kind of results. I know that the Elmiron can take quite some time to see any benefit but that is a lot of money to be paying out for a drug with such a low success rate. I guess after today I am just filled with doubts. The Ultrasound was very difficult for me and hopefully I will not need another one. They are checking a ovarian cyst and I am at an age (65) where they have to be monitored.
