ic diet does opposite?
it seems if i follow the ic diet i pee more frequently and less amounts. yet if i don't follow it i pee less frequent with more volume. pain seems to stay the same. any ideas?
IC - Thinking about starting Elmiron.
Compound fracture of L3, L4 and L5. 07/2005
Degenerative Disc Disease 07/2005
PTSD and GAD - xanax .25mg 07/2005
No cartildge in left knee 11/2008
Cysts on ovaries, kidneys, liver, muscle, bladder
Continous inflamation of SI joints
Possible IBS
Chronic fatigue 10/2008
Lactose and egg intolerance 06/2007
PCOS - 06/2009
Celiacs Disease - 06/2009
Meds-
xanax .25mg
Hydrocodone/apap 5/500
Possibly elmiron 100mg 3x daily
Possibly Detrol LA or Vesicare
Possibly Metformin for PCOS

Maybe there's something in the IC diet you're allergic to? You might try an elimination diet to find out. Or, there could have been other factors the day(s) you tried it, such as stress, exercise, driving etc....

Current treatments:
-IC diet
-Elavil 30mg at night
-Ditropan 5mg at night
-Continuous use birth control pills (4-5 periods/year)
-Heparin/Marcaine/Sodium Bicarb home instills every morning and night
-Pyridium if needed, usually once a week or so
-1 Vicodin at bedtime,
-Flexeril 10mg at bedtime
-Dye Free Benadryl for allergies occasionally
-Pelvic floor & myofascial release (external only) physical therapy for 8 weeks, then home exercise program...
-Managing stress
-Fur therapy: Hugging the cat!

It's absolutely possible that some of the foods and drinks on the usually okay list are a problem for you. I know I can't tolerate garlic, but most ICers can. You really need to stick with the diet for at least a month before you are apt to see any difference.
It's also possible that the tap water in your area could be a problem. You might try drinking just bottled spring water (with no additives) for a while to see if you improve. And be sure to drink at least six cups of water every day. You may urinate more frequently at first, but as the urine becomes less concentrated, you may have less frequency.
