Alas, still a newbie and tired of this......
I just need to vent, apologize.......I am *so* angry.....I'm ticked that I have lost 26 pounds (wasnt' that heavy to begin with), I am tired of the medication...tired of my hair when it falls out (thank you Elmiron)....tired of eating chicken every day as it seems to be the only *meat* that I can.....I have eaten the same food for the past few months. Why? Because when I try something new I end up with a flare......even some foods on the *OK* list upset my body.....I don't want the pain of *trying* a new food.....I'm tired of a urologists who basically says *deal with the pain* (and this is a Doctor who is listed in my area as a Doctor who specializes in this disorder.......I am angry that I got asked out on a date, this guy who I thought was incredible only to say *No*....because I know sex is out of the question....I am tired of having to call in ill to work on days I can't function.....I am worried I may lose my job.....I am just tired....thank you for letting me vent......

Don't apologize for venting. We all need it once in a while. This is the place to do it because there are so many people here who understand what you are going through.
You do not have to settle for a doctor who does not want to help you, even if they are listed as an expert. Keep looking.
You also don't have to turn down an invitation to go out. Go on out and enjoy yourself. A date does not have to = sex. Nor should it. Too many other complications to worry about to jump in right away. If a guy is asking you out just for sex, you don't need him.
Sending you some gentle (((hugs))).

We all feel like this some days, its ok to vent. Sometimes I get out of work and just cry. This is a very debilitating condition and its ok to get upset about it. Id say besides when I’m asleep I’m upset and in pain. But I try and hold myself together. I felt like I’m going to loose my job too, so I had my Doctor write a letter to him to let him know I might miss work sometimes because of my condition, and he filed a copy with HR.
So hang in there, stay strong! You are not alone.

total shock!
I so feel your pain. I have been dealing with IC coming up three years now. I have been through 4 doctors - none of whom would prescribe pain meds. All of a sudden my current doctor of the past two years just looked at me and asked me what I wanted for my pain, did I want percocet or darvocet etc? I didn't know what to say! She finally decided she would give me vicoden saying it had muscle relaxing properties to it. I could have fainted! I have no idea why for the past 2 years she wouldn't give me anything with opiates and then suddenly give me anything I want for pain. I sat there crying and my husband couldn't understand why! I just couldn't get the point made that I had been suffering for so long and am just finally relieved that my pain if finally being acknowledged. I got so tired of reading about others on these boards that would post about all the pain meds their doctors would freely give them without making them feel like drug addicts. My doctor was so sweet and said how much she trusted me that I would use them properly and only when I needed. I can't say enough about the validation! I was literally going to make that my last appt. ever with her because of her prior refusal to give pain meds. I had made an appt. with a new doctor to see if I could get a referral to a pain management clininc. I can't believe I can cancel that appt. now. You just might need to go back to your primary doctor and get an appt. for a pain management specialist if possible. I hear many primary doctors will give some pain meds - usually if they have known you for a long time and know that you aren't some sort of addict looking for a fix. I hope you can get some help. Good luck to you.
