glucosamine/MSM
I have read so much about glucosamine/MSM and how it has helped many people. I went to my local drugstore today to buy a bottle and was so confused on which brand to buy! I went to CVS, I found so many bottles of glucosamine/MSM/chondrition (not sure if im spelling the chondrition right) but I have read on the forums not to get the kind with chondriton because it could irritate the bladder. I found others that said glucosamine sulfate but i wasnt sure if that is the same as normal glucosamine. I was wondering if anyone could share what brand(s) they use?

I'm sure others will respond who have experience with this supplement. In the meantime you should ask your pharmacist to explain the differences of the many combos, because yes it can be overwhelming! There are SOOO many combos and choices. I know b/c I gave glucosamine plus something or other to my dog (RIP) in hopes that it would help at least some with her arthritis. After becoming totally overwhelmed in that aisle at Walmart I decided best to ask my vet what in his professional opinion would be best for my dog. After getting his advice I made a bee-line back to Walmart and bought exactly what in his professional opinion was the best choice and combo. I would think that a pharmacist or doctor would also be able to help you narrow down what might be best for you, as my vet was. Good luck!
In remission since Aug 2009!

I take the Schiff brand of glucosamine (500 mg)/MSM (500 mg) one with each meal. I used to take the CVS brand but they stopped carrying the above combo in the store near me. My pill is in tablet form and I tend to break it down with my teeth before swallowing it.

I've been taking 1 500mg capsule of Gluc Sulfate/MSM every day for a month. I have no idea if it is helping. For those of you who have been taking it for at least a few months regularly, how long was it before you felt it was helping? Did you find you needed to take 1000mg or more each day in order to see benefits?

Don't Know
You can read my signature to see what and how much I take. I do not know what is helping me. All I can say is, my IC ruled my life and what I ingested about 1 1/2 years ago, and today I pretty much eat anything.
I'm too scared to go back to how I used to be, so I keep taking the items I've listed. There's nothing more fun in the entire world than eating WHAT YOU WANT...YAY!!!!
So, to answer your question..."I don't know." I used information from this forum and now find myself feeling much better.
I wish everyone else the same.Diagnoses: Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (2012),Interstitial Cystitis (2003), Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia (2003), GERD (since ?), IBS (since ?), Low Blood Volume (2006), Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth (2007)
