survived the trip to europe with only minor complications
well, my gyn gave me some urelle to start taking before the trip (uro is out on maternity leave). however, i started having horrible pain the day we were supposed to leave. couldn't pee, felt awful, the whole shebang. dh convinced me to call my gyn and see if something else was wrong. he saw me right away, dx a nasty UTI and gave me some meds. in 3 days all was fine again. we almost didn't make it to the airport in time though. my gyn likes to talk. lol.
anyway, the urelle and the prelief (forgot to bring mine, but gyn's nurse found me some samples to throw in my purse) really helped. i ate lots of stinky cheese in paris. drank tea constantly. even had a lot of wine. it was wonderful. of course, i still ended up doing a tour of paris's pay toilets. but they are actually clean. so it wasn't too bad. lol. didn't even have a flare when my cycle started either.
maybe the water in paris is good for IC? hmmm? actually, i know part of it is i have a pretty mild case of IC. i'm really fortunate i guess. but it was really nice to actually enjoy our trip. my dh was happy that i was able to go an hour or two without having to pee.

Holly,
Sounds like a fabulous trip. Glad you caught the uti in time or that would've been rough I'm sure.
It's great that you could go an hour or two w/o peeing. I can on occasion.
Lots of my friends who are normal pee that much. (So I guess we're normal from time to time..)
It's great to here the pain was not in control on this trip!
Tons of support,
Jaime

i'm sorry your trip started off badly with a nasty uti but i'm glad it ended up so great!!! sounds like you had a wonderful time.
do you have any picture to share with us I would love to see some picture if you have any. if not that is okay too. I didn't know there was places you had to pay to use the restroom but i agree with you at least they was clean that was a very good thing.
that was very nice of the rn to find you some prelief before you left. sounds like you have a good team of doctors working with you.
I would love to be able to go on a trip like that. maybe one of these days I will get to go to a nice country like that. it must be so wonderful to travel.
I have never been on an airplane either I would love to be able to try that one day too.
