Dr. says since Vesicare works
I went to a Urologist last month and he put me on Vesicare. It worked immediatly for the frequency. I then went back to the Dr. after 2 weeks and he said since the Vesicare is working I probably don't have IC. He did a cystascope in his office and saw only inflammation. He told be to take Advil 3 times a day for 10 days. I have all the classic symptoms of IC along with vestibulitis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue and irritable bowel. Does anyone else here take vesicare and it is working. I am in extreme pain today along with very bad pelvic pain for a week during ovulation. That's when it really flares up. I am due to see the Urologist in 2 months. I just made an appt. with a Urogynecologist in November. I am hoping to get some answers, ecspecially about the vesicare.
Thanks

Hi --
I take Vesicare which works most of the time for me -- especially at night and I do have IC -- my MD told me that different things work for different people and that many things for IC treatment are trial and error -- you just have to work with your MD to find the right combination of treatments and meds. I'm hoping you and your MD will be able to find a combination of treatments/meds that will work for you --
Hope you feel better day by day.Crystal

Hi
I tried Detrol LA 4mg first. On the 5th day it caused major retention in me -- dried me out completely for 16 hours -- Had to get off that and make sure it was out of my system then got on the Vesicare 5mg and it has worked well enough for me - it did cause me pretty bad constipation, but I had mostly gotten that under control with the Miralax and Amitiza -- my doc says I would probably have better results with Vesicare 10mg -- but I really don't want to risk the increased constipation with the increased dosage, so I stick to the 5mg. My MD says that Vesicare is one of the mildest of the OAB meds as far as it not causing retention as much --
Hope it works for you.

years ago I tried detrol and had major urinary retention. Just wondered how some of you do with vesicare. I can't take any of the anti depressants as they give me urinary retention cymbalta, effexor, klonopoin. My bladder is so shruken and fibrosed from years of Ic and going without treatment before we knew what Ic was. Vicky

When I tried to take Cymbalta with the Vesicare it proved to be a little too much also -- didn't exactly cause retention, but caused some hesitation, which I knew would lead to retention if I stayed on that course -- so I opted to get off the Cymbalta -- and have stayed on Ativan for sleep and a .5mg during the day when I need it (which is usually 1 or 2 times per week)
I use UTA capsules now during the times when I seem to have some increased frequency -- UTA is like Urelle and Prosed, except it does not have the Atropine Sulfate in it -- it does have the hyoscyamine in it, which is an antispasmodic - but it only has .12mg in one capsule - you can take it up to 4 times per day, but I can usually get by on one capsule per day -- and my MD says you can take it a little longer term than Pyridium (which I couldn't take because the red dye flares me) --
Hope this is helpful to you .
