    Unhappy Stupid stupid!

So I went to my doctors today to get a referral to a urologist and get a Rx for something...I then chickened out and figured if my doctor could prescribe something (she Rx'd Elavil) then I don't really need to go to the urologist if the meds work. Ugh...I hate it when I do that. She said to come back in 2-3 months and let her know how it's working. I guess I'll ask for a referral then, regardless of how it works just so I can get diagnosed.

    Rx: Elmiron 100mg 3x daily
    Symptoms: frequency & bladder fullness
Also have: IBS since 1999, kidney stones since 2000 & UTI's since 2001

    be brave!

Just try and be brave the next time. If you are having bladder issues, it really would be better to see a specialist. If your doctor is willing to precribe meds, I would recommend an anti-spasmodic to help with frequency and burning. I take utira-c which is the generic for urelle. Urelle or prosed are both good meds for that. It's just that prosed is much more expensive. Both turn your urine blue so don't freak out about that! Ditropan xl was also effective at getting rid of the constant "gotta go" feeling. Maybe you can call your doctor and see if you can get a phone in precscription for one of those. They are not narcotics so you shouldn't have any problems. Good luck to you. PS Elavil didn't work well for me so good luck with it.

You really don't need to wait for your next appointment. You could call and talk with your doctor's nurse and ask if you can have the referral. That way you can make the request in comfort from home.
