How do you measure for a bra?
I wasn't going to ask this but I am. I cannot find a bra that fits right since I got fatter becasue I got bigger on top. Was big to begin with but this has gotten to be a mission to find a bra that "holds them up" (I keep thinking of Kenny Rogers song Know when to hold 'em know then to fold em....) and I jiggle too. During the winter it's ok because i have large sweat shirts on and a coat when I go out in public and YES!! Will men Pleeeeeeeeeaseeeeeeee keep their eyes where they belong!!! That just irks me to the max!
Anyway, I used to wear a size 40C but that was to tight around my body. Didn't hold either. Tried a 40D same thing. Tried a 42D and still the same thing. When I was in home-ec teacher said to measure. Just did that and there are no bra size of 45 that I know of.
Plus that size would be waaaaaaaaay to big. I'm at my witts end here. HELP ME pleeeeeeeeeease someone............
Oh how I wish I were small. Anyone want to swap boobies???

If you do an internet search on bra sizing you should be able to find the right size for you.

I never thought to google it so I did. Two web sites said I wear a 43B. That sure surprised me! The other site said there were no results for me so not sure what that meant. ha next time I go to the store I will buy one and see how it goes. Thanks Donna! I guess you can really google just about anything.

Some stores have special "fit" clerks who can help you find your correct size.

If you have a VS near you, they will measure and fit you.

Almost all major Dept Stores in most malls that have a lingerie dept have clerks who are trained to measure you. (No purchase is necessary.) Also, if you have recently bought bras and just gained weight and dont want to buy more just yet, and the band is a a bit tight, you can buy extenders there too, for about $3 or $4 that will give you 2-3 more inches in the band.
(I have done this a few times and it saved me a bundle when I needed to go up a band size, but not a cup size.)

Bra Fitting
I go to Nordstrom's a high end department store where I get fitted. Then I know what size I am.
Hope this helps.

I only went in VS once and I felt so.....embarassed.....plus they had not one bra anywhere near my size. I usually go to JCPenny for them but stopped since they are up at the mall and I don't want to spend the money in gas but maybe I will tomorrow. I wasn't sure if I could just go up to one of the women and ask if they could help me out. htought they might think I'm stupid but will give it a try.
Thanks for all the help on this.

Mary - our JCPenny's has a bra fitter - most JCP's do. If you dont have one there - do you have a Kohl's, Macy's or Belks? All of those have a bra fitter too where they will measure you
. You'd be surprised at just what size you really need vs. what size you think you are. Oh dont feel like you're the only one who feels embarrassed in VS - I still dont like going in there and I'm a size 7 so...no worries there, its not just you!
I thought I was a 36B - turns out... I'm in between sizes, not quite a B but not quite a C - so they went to a C cup!
I was like "EH?!" (looks down...and up at the woman..then down again) I've SEEN C cup women..and I certainly dont look overflowing like they do! But....I switched and am much more comfortable (and I have a very large rib cage..its maddening). Ugh. And dont get embarrassed - these women are professionals and see "the girls" all day long in all shapes and sizes
Lots of hugs,
Brittany

I suggest you telephone first. You will probably have to go for a 42C and an extender --- I doubt you will be able to find a size 43 unless you go to a specialty shop --- and they are VERY expensive.

Mary I found that different bra brands require different sizes. I went to Lady Grace and bought 3 brands with the wonderful help of the salespeople there. Each one is a different size but fit me perfect. I wrote down all the information for each one in case I can buy them on line or in a local store. The store I had to go to is 100 miles away. I live in Maine and everyplace one goes is measured in time it takes to get there. Locals will say "down the road a piece" and it could end up[ being 80 miles. If you live in Maine you need to go to Portland. That is the only place I know about. There may be others. Except for shoes, nothing is more important for our comfort then a correct fitting bra. Good luck.. Hugs, Ziggy

I'll agree with others, the Department stores do have bra fitters, but you might have to make an appointment with them. (I know the shops out here will have only so many days/or hours to do this, also some of the stores will have posters (I know Sears does) that shows you how to find the correct size.

Hey Lauren, you are the only one who took me up on my offer. I was thinking maybe I was crazy for saying it. You name the time and place and I will be there with bells on. mainly so you know who I am OR you could just look for the Dolly Parton look a like.
They get in the way alllllll the time and trying to walk through a crowd can be embarassing! I "bump" into someone and it's like "Oh, excuse me". "Oh, sorry".
Wonder what it is like in the countries that don't wear bras? That must be somewhat painful when it comes time for running.
