MY BLADDEER COMES OUT JUNE 14TH!
Saw my uro today. We've set the date. June 14th he's all mine for morning to bed time. My bladder only holds 100cc's with distension! He says that was 2 years ago and he suspects that it has shrunken since then. It holds about 30cc's now. So,now I can relax for once.
Thank you all for you encouragement and support!"Never take, I don't know how to help you as an answer."

I am so happy for you! Can I ask where you are having the surgery? There are some wonderful hospitals in Ma. You will be in my thoughts on the 14th. Judith

Way to go Kara,
I have been praying that you would get in soon to get that bladder out. Your bladder capacity is the same as mine was before I had my bladder out, that isn't much urine.
All the best in the coming weeks. The doctor's dispute here in B. C. is causing a bit of delay for my surgery but supposedly they are going to do it the end of this week or next week so am hopeful that will happen.
Thanks for letting us know Kara, all the best.Yvonne

Dear Kara, My prayers and best wishes go
out to you. I'm anxious to see how you do.
I'm sure after all the suffering you've
been through. It will be a blessed relief.
If I were younger I would certainly consider
it. Problem is I'm in my 60s with other
problems so I don't think I would be a good candidate. Can't imagine what it would be
like to not be in the bathroom 40 to 50 times
daily, to sleep the night thru and drink any-
thing but water. Just think it will all be
possible for you. Healing wishes and warm
(((HUGS))) Rita

To Answer Tracey: I am having an:
"Orthotopic Diversion: This relatively new procedure is being performed in selected surgical centers. This is a type of diversion in which the bladder is removed, and a new bladder, constructed from a bowel segment, is connected to the urethra, replacing the removed bladder. Patients then void through the normal urethral channel without the necessity of a catheter or bag. The development of urinary incontinence is one possible drawback of this procedure.
Possible complications of these procedures can include eventual kidney damage over a period of 15-20 years. Additionally, some research has shown that when bowel tissues are in contact with urine, multiple complications can result, including infections, metabolic disturbances, urolithiasis (stone formation), perforation, and increased mucus production, as well as recurrence of IC on the bowel tissue."

HI Kara, Even though I have been with you on the phone for many days and nights feeling alone and frightened, I am glad you are at peace now and were able to make the right decision for you!
As you know, being an IC activist for years I have had contact with many ICers. I have made many IC friends and know quite well the 3 I have introduced you to who are doing extrememly well. I watched one ICer for whom became a very good friend, go through the same operation. She is IC free now and the other two mutual friends are doing as well. As a matter of fact, they are all friends and you will be amongst them soon, on the other side. They no longer speak of IC because it doesn't rule there life anymore. I am so glad you chose Dr. Friedman as I recommended because he was one of the first of just a handful of docs that did this major surgery when it was discovered that they were able to make this pouch out of part of the colon. He is a meticulously skilled sergeon and you are in the best of hands.
I will be there for you as you know and be talking with you soon!
My prayers will be will you as well

Molly,
Thank you for sharing your support on the boards.
You've been my 2nd mother for over 2 years now and I truely wouldn't have been able to do it with out your help. I hope I can return the support you've shown to me in the years to come.
Love,

Kara,
You go, girl! I haven't been on the boards long, but long enough to know you've been down a long, miserable road. I pray this brings you the relief you deserve! You'll be in my thoughts...
