    Appointment with alternative dr. tomorrow

I was diagnosed with IC last week (I also suffer from Lupus and had my thyroid removed). I have an appointment with a Dr. tomorrow who treats IC patients with herbs and accupuncture. My husband's aunt works there so I get a family discount :woohoo: after the 1st visit- the initial visit is $95.00, which is definitely worth it if there is a remote possibility that it will help. I am also going to ask him about weight loss and smoking cessation- I know that smoking and the extra weight are not good for the bladder. My husband thinks its a bunch of hooey but I know that alternative doctors have been reccomending the herbs in my son's teething tablets that are now widely available and popular and definitely help his gums. Just because something hasn't been "proven" doesn't mean it won't work! (My late grandmother could even charm warts off). Anyway, I will report tomorrow on the results. Any feedback on what to ask or expect would be greatly appreciative. This site is so awesome.

Good luck on your visit. I've been going for acupuncture for the last 4 months and find that it does help my bladder pain and relaxes me. I have an appointment the end of January with a woman at an alternative type wellness center. She's a certified herbalist among other things and treats IC patients. I'm sorry I can't add anything as far as what to expect since I'm new to all this too. Please post how your appointment goes because I know a lot of us are interested in other treatments. By the way, my husband doesn't believe acupuncture and other alternative things work either. He needs scientific proof before he'll believe anything...Sue
