Hello everyone
Hello friends , I came across this site the other night while in a flare and could not sleep due to the pain and burning. I am 29 and a mom of two kids ages 8 and 7, girl and boy. Im happily married and live in Oregon. I was diagnosed when I was 16 after constantly going in for UTI's. They did a cystoscopy and said I was actually bleeding inside my bladder. OUCH! I've always had a fairly easy time with my IC and could control it with just diet and lots of water. Usually when I had a flare I could just take some Uristat, drink lots of water and the next day I would be fine. well lately it hasn't been quite so easy. Ive made an appointment with my Urologist but can't get in until next month. Luckily my hubby has some leftover Vocodin from his tooth pull and it is helping the pain. My question is does IC get worse over time? I have never had to take strong pain meds for this in the past, Ive never had this much pain in the past. My flare began after sex with my husband and then I was stupid enough to have a diet soda which I rarely do. I have a very healthy diet with very little junk food. I eat mostly meat, veggies and fruit. I usually only drink water and do not drink coffee. If I need caffeine I drink green tea which I now know is a no no. Well anyway, thats my story. I am glad to be here with others who understand and can help

Welcome aboard. I'm sorry you're feeling bad. IC is not specifically a progressive disease, but it can be better or worse at different times in our lives. There's every reason to hope that this is just a flare-up and will respond to treatment. Let us know what happens.
Je vous souhaite de la joie, de la bonne santée, et tout ce qu'il y a de bon dans la vie.
Wishing you happiness and good health, and all the best out of life.
Peace, Carolyn

to the IC Network. I'm glad you found us. Where do you live in Oregon? I'm in the country outside of Eugene.
I'm thinking the diet soda would be enough to cause a flare. If that's it, the flare may go away within a few days.

I live just outside of Portland
Thanks for the healing thoughts. Went to the doc today since Im still hurting and she gave me antibiotics just in case of infection. Don't really like taking them If Im not sure but I don't want to be in pain anymore either. Does IC pain usually worsen at night? Im ok during the day but at night I can barely walk.

My pain use to be at night, now its in the morning. It is really hard for me to determine when my flares will come.
