    Late night TV

I've been having a little trouble with sleep these days, but I've been keeping myself entertained watching "MASH" & "Who's the Boss?" reruns late at night.

What do you guys all do when you're up in the middle of the night with a flare & can't sleep & lying there just makes you mad?
(Uh, that was sounding a little personal?)

    This week's favorite one-liner:

Adding a third because I'm just so darn easily amused...
"Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.
    - Bruce Graham"

LOL, I watch those WE TV Wedding show, Rich bride poor bride, Bridezillas, Platnium Weddings, ETC. These shows just amaze me at the amount of money and the attitudes raised.

I pretty much do the same as you do. Watch TV and/or read for awhile. Problem with reading though, is that I get too caught up in it and sometimes I'll read way to far into the morning hours and before you know it -- Its likes 4a.m. and I'm thinking I better put the book down and try to get some kind of sleep as I got to get up at 5:30!

I read, also, and before I know it, I'm sleepy, even when it is a good book. I'm not a big fan of turning on TV late at night. Somehow, the colors always seem too bright.

I almost always get up and read, but then I have the same problem as Mary124; I get too interested in the book and I stay up longer than I need to. So, not really a help.

So, lately I have been putting a DVD into the player before I go to bed. That way it's there and ready if I get up in the night. I find it pretty easy to fall asleep in front of the television, no matter how much I like the show or film.
Je vous souhaite de la joie, de la bonne santée, et tout ce qu'il y a de bon dans la vie.
Wishing you happiness and good health, and all the best out of life.

    Peace, Carolyn

I sometimes come downstairs and read or watch TV. I don't like to turn on the light in our bedroom cause hubby needs his rest. I find it's much better for me to just get up for a while, rather than to lay in bed and fret about not sleeping. I'm a MASH junkie so if that's on I will watch it. I also like the old movies, even the silent ones, so I can usually find something to watch.

I do a combo of it all, lol. Read, watch TV etc. I have also been known to drag out the journal and start writing, sometimes that can make me sleepy too!

If all else fails, I'll play video games. That's usually distracting enough to take my mind off the pain.

Donna I am like you. I sneak out of bed to not make my husband. I love to watch TV with the hopes I will drift off. If I read a book I don't just fall off to sleep.

Love the MASH reruns. Too funny. Don't think I am weird but I have started watching this old series that comes on at 3:00 called Angel. It has David Boreanz (he is sooo hot) in it and is very witty. Completey not my style because it is sci fi! Hot dude, who cares?

I have also been watching Iron Chef because I don't have to turn the volume up on the TV in the Den by the kids room. I don't like to go downstairs to the theater room and turn on everything in the middle of the night. I get scared!

I watch the shows that I have recorded on Tivo from HGTV. Mainly because there isn't a plot, so I don't feel like I have to watch it and it seems to put me back to sleep. I also watch the history channel. If I am going to be up, maybe I will learn something.

If I read a book, I am going to read the entire book.

I am also like Tracey, I write in my journal, but those entries can be pretty wacky in the middle of the night. Maybe one of these days when my kids read it when I am gone, they will see that I was funny at times!

Another game that I do in my mind alot if I really am trying to stay in bed and not disturb my hubby or Mollie. I will do abc games in my head. For instance, I will start with girls names and go through the alphabet, then boy's names, then state with their capitals. State with state birds, etc. I have done that game for years since I was a kid because my parents would make me go to bed at a certain time (no books or TV) and I wasn't tired, but I would finally drift off to sleep. I never did require a whole lot of sleep even when I was a kid. Hopefully that willl help keep my mind sharp with me playing mind games.

I tried those cds for relaxation, but I would always end up humming along with them and don't be me started with the hypno cds. I haven't found a voice yet that didn't get on my nerves!
