Question ?Non hormonal ways to treat Atrophic vaginitis?

I could really use some ideas and help with this since my endo flared from estrace...I would like to put off trying any other vaginal hormone till late fall when I am back to be very fatigued since Summer is the only time I can live and with the risk of pain I would really like to put it off. Regardless the Atrophic vaginitis is a problem and I am hoping that there is a way to not take hormones and still get some help!

    Thanks a bunch!

    Katrina

    other ways

I use the estrace ring because it has the least estrogen in it. Perhaps an herbalist would have some herbs that over a long time build up your own bodies abilty to create hormones. That is what my herbalist teacher said, but it is too long and controversial to go into here except for this. In India the main female herb is called Shatavari. You may want to research that. People think that in China, donq quai is used for its estrogen effect, but actually it is used more to move blood which is important for many female problems apparently. Most Chinese herbs are taken with other herbs in formulas and not by themselves. Many herbs imported from China can be contaminated, too. Perhaps a trained acupuncturist/herbalist could help if you don't want to take natural hormones. PV

42 years IC. 2013 tried liposome instillations at California Stem Cell TC and the pain I guess from the catheter was too much. I tried 3 times. I am going to stick with trying a few old medications for now - hyomax and try vaginal valium. I still think herbs are so much safer than drugs.(I took an overview course a few years ago.) But there is so much little research on herbal remedies for this complex disease and people in pain need help as soon as possible, therefore RX drugs are necessary. I myself was trying elmiron (after cystoprotek and aloe vera did not seem to coat the bladder for me) Back to herbs, if you think that your IC is caused by histamines and allergies, etc, there are many researched herbs and herb formulas for that type of thing so perhaps that may be a path for you. But since IC is so complex, those herbs may not help. Perhaps if you think you are getting infections, there may be herbs that could deal with chronic, drug resistance problems but you would need some professional guidence. I believe I keep inflammation down by taking cucurmin extract, and other anti-inflammatory herbs - there are many good ones. You SHOULD find some that agree with you and your medication protocol if possible.

Thanks for replying. Natural hormones are still hormones and would still allow me to have an endo flare...so putting off all of that.

I have tried Aloe Vera and Vitamin E vaginally which has helped but I seem to not be able to win since the extra moisture meant yeast. Anyway....hopefully there will be other ways to help skin heal and be stronger and have moisture that doesn't involve estrogen of any kind.

A couple of things can help with symptoms of atrophic vaginitis but non of these treats AV or renews the cells which are estrogen starved.
Here are a few: ReNew or RePhresh which is PH balanced and a simple vaginal moisturizer, vaginal cocco butter suppositories which you can have compounded with lactobacilli, they are very soothing and any compounding pharmacy should be able to make them without a RX.
Unfortunately the only cure is the vaginal estrogen. Even the weaker estrogen metabolite Estriol cream may be helpful.

    Sammi

Meds: Melatonin 3mg @ bedtime if needed. Estrogen 1.5 mg troche and 0.1 mg Estrace cream.
Diagnosis: IC, PFD (both in remission)
