Tis The Season....
Whew! I am tired! Been cooking all morning. So far, I have made turkey, cornbread dressing, fruit salad, broccoli salad, sweet potatoe cassarole, pecan pie, and pumpkin pie. I will do the mashed potatoes, and other vegies tommorrow. I am awfully tired though! I am not used to being up that long doing anything! I dont know about the rest of you, but the way I feel right now, it is a good think there arent any Pilgrims around, or I might deck one of them, just for coming up with a holiday that requires hours of cooking!!!!
I am trying to get all the cooking over with today so I can rest up tomorrow and just enjoy the holiday. I may try to do some of the Black Friday sales on the day after Thanksgiving. I have never done them before. Anyone else out there do the black Friday sales? From what I understand, you gotta get up at like 3 or 4 in the morning to stake out your stores. But, there look to be lots of really good deals, doorbusters, and freebies. I have some friends who go every year and come back with such steals, like VCRs for $12, video games for $5, etc. So, being on Disability, money is always tight, so I thought I would give it a go this year. If any of you do the sales, all tips are welcome! I need professional help for this! I hear the crowds are horrific! So, if any of you have any hints, please pass them on!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!Hugs, Amy

I'm still at work - taking a break. I Will go home about 5 or so. When I get home, will rest and have left overs from the other night and try and clean out refrig. to make room for tomorrow. If I have time and energy tonight will make the pies before I go to bed. If not there is no hurry, as my son has to work tomorrow till 3:00 so we won't eat dinner till after he gets home. Plenty of time to cook. (I cook, the guys clean up- they learn a long time ago this is the way to go as they won't hear me yell and scream at them about not getting any help at all and "this will be our last holiday dinner!!" yes, I threaten them with that before. As to Friday, I've gone out once or twice, but no more, its to crowded for me, and not worth it. I usually stay and hide in the house from the time I get home Wed. night to the time I have to go back to work on Monday morning!! If people want to see me, they can come over to my house.
Hope you and yours have a very Happy Thanksgiving. Mary

Amy,
I guess that is the one benefit to going to my parents is that I don't have to cook. I do the black Friday thing but haven't done it alone before so we'll see what happens.
Hugs,
Barb

Well Amy since you have yours all done how about coming and doing mine too? I'll throw in a free DVD and you won't have to do the black friday thing.
Nope, never done the black friday shopping thing. Can't stand shopping and not about to get up at 4:00 am to fight the mob of people. To me Christmas shopping is happily making my way through the stores to find the right present. Not tackle another lady for the last pair of socks on sale.
Good luck if you do go shopping on Friday.
Take a pair of boxing gloves with you just in case.
I wish I could go to NYC and shop at Macy's. Just one day before I die.

See, that's the thing....I am not a shopper either, and I HATE crowds too! I have been known to skip even family get togethers of 10-15 people b/c THAT was too much of a crowd for me! So, for me to attempt Black Friday is HUGE! But, being on disability, funds are kind of limited and I wouldnt be able to afford some of the things otherwise. For example, my son wants a motorized, ride on, toy 4-Wheeler. The ones I have seen run about $250-$350 regularly, but there is one tomorrow that is regular $279 that is on sale for $129 between 6am and 10am only. So, if I didnt get that deal, I couldnt afford it.
(Or else he wouldnt get hardly anything else. Also, my husband needs a new drill, the brand he wants is usually $80, tommorrow from 5 am to 7am, it is $22. So, THAT'S why I am going to attempt Black Friday. I guess that is why everyone else does too though! But, I'll tell ya, I AM pretty scared. If it is as crazy as I have heard it is, than it will be a madhouse! I'll let ya know tomorrow night if it was worth it. I am going with a couple of friends, but we are all suppossed to go to different stores to "stake out the deals". So, we are driving separately. Plus, it is better that way too, in case I can hang with the big dogs and have to go back to the porch!
Well, wish me luck Friday! (And good luck to you, Barb! I am sure we will both need it!) Happy Thanksgiving to all and to all a good nite! Love, Amy

I went once and that was the first and last. I hate crowds and the bathrooms are usually very dirty because there are so many people. I get good sales on line, too and don't have to fight the crowds.

OOOOH I love Black Friday. I never go with a "list to buy". I love to be in the hussle bussle, look at the decoration, see the love that people put into picking out that special gift for that special person. Sometimes I just find a bench and sit.You would be surprised how much you can learn from just listening to shoppers, espically the kids. Almost every mall has a children's play eare and it is a hoot just to watch them play and easedrop on their imagination. It is a tradition that the girls in the family have always had. The boys go deer hunting and we go mall hunting.
It is so funny at the end of the day it seems I have all my Christmas shopping finished. I just carry a list of people that I want to get a gift and as I waltz around somehow there is something that really fits that person's personality.
Now, I know that the true meaning of Christmas is not the shopping or the buying, but I really enjoy the giving. This works for me.TREATMENT: PRN lidocaine/heparin Home Instillations since 2004
