I am new here and have lots of questions!
I had a LAVH/BSO 7 weeks ago. I have had urinary retention since the surgery. I mean....nothing comes out at all on its own. First the doctor put me on eurocholine...didn't work unless I pushed the heck out of myself. Got really frustrated and went to see a urol/gyn and he said my pelvic floor muscles were completely weak, so now doing therapy (e-stim) both once a week at the doctors office and also 3 times a day at home.
Now....the doctor who did the surgery is stumped because he hasn't seen this happen before (urinary retention from hysto) so he put me on Flomax (he knows about the other doctor too). He is very conservative and only put me on .4mg a day, but the other doctor (the one doing the therapy) said I could take .8mg a day.
Has anyone taken this amount before and did it work? I have never had urinary problems before this surgery and just want to go potty on my own! Does anyone have success stories about the therapy working? How long did it take? I asked the therapist if this was going to take 6 months to a year and she said no way...maybe 4 weeks.....am I being bamboozled???
