    Question What kind of doctor?

What kind of doctor do you contact about doing the pelvic floor therapy? My Uro said I would need a specialist, but did not know of one,in this area. Then he said to talk to the Gyno. Then the Gyno said he was not really sure..but he wants to check for Endometrisios first. I was just wondering,if there is a specialist?? Both the Uro and Gyno treat the IC, but i did not know that when i got started with the Uro.I later found out that the Gyno dr is listed as a Uro/Gyno. If you think I am confused, you should see them!!

Most people see a physical therapist for the actual pelvic floor therapy. There is a doctor of physical therapy called a "physiatrist", though.
    Kim

    Diagnosed August 2001

Current IC meds: Elmiron (since 2001), Levaquin (one pill after intercourse to prevent UTIs), Effexor (for depression & anxiety)

Past IC meds: Amitriptyline (Elavil), Hydroxyzine (Vistaril), Detrol LA, Lexapro (for depression & anxiety, but also helped my IC) (They all helped, but I was able to discontinue them.)

My IC story: http://www.ic-network.com/patientstories/kim.html It's very outdated now. I've been virtually symptom free and able to eat & drink whatever I'd like for about 8 years now.
