    burning bum

    Hi all
everytime now I poo it burns like I ate chili or something. and I know I don't eat chili just a bland diet. Could it be that it is because i have external hemmroids that pop out? how can I fix this without using prep h or tucks since they make the skin thin over time thank guys

Some suggestions from a nurse who used to take care of newly postpartum ladies with majorly sore bums...

    1. Witch hazel, soaked on a wash cloth, stored for about 30 minutes in the freezer...use it as long as it's comfortable.

    2. Sitz baths....you can buy these at many drug stores, or just sit in a couple inches of warm bath water, and you can add some epsom salts to the tub...may burn to begin with but is wonderful after your bath.

    3. Use a squirt bottle every single time you use the toilet....#1 or #2...this keeps the area clean and the warm water is comforting. Pat dry, NEVER rub.

    4. Use glycerin suppositories to soften your bm's if they are hard and you have to strain...straining will make your hemms MUCH worse.

I'm sure there are more ideas somewhere in the back of my tired brain...if you have any more ?'s feel free to pm me. I hope you feel better soon...and, if those hemms dont heal up you HAVE to see a doc because the longer you wait the worse they can get.

    Take care, Sandy

ps...don't worry about skin breakdown "over time" using the prep h or tucks pads...you need relief now. Ask your doctor for more help if you haven't already.
