Stim out, and I feel great!
Yesterday I had my stim out. Man, oh man, that was a fight. I got there at 11 and the nurse came out and said, "oh your surgery isn't until 1:00". I was starving and sooo thirsty! I felt like crying! I was so nervous that I was just about throwing up. Well I got taken back, had to give urine to make sure I wasn't pregnant (thankfully I was not!) and they began the whole IV process, questions, etc.
Then the doc came by, and this is not a joke, what he said to me next was horrific.
"Would you like me to reimplant it again?" I stared at him in shock.
"No, it didn't work last year, and it won't work this time, and you know it."
"Okay, just checking. So removed?"
"YES!! And can I keep my unit?" He agreed and then they wheeled me back for surgery.
So he got the unit out, plus 98% of the lead. I was relieved about that, but still worried about that 2%...he assured me it wasn't going anywhere. Hmm...just like my unit?
Oh and this is the part that really irks me. I told the nurse about my pain and she goes, "oh dear, that sounds like nerve pain!" and I said, "yeah, it does, and it hurts like nothing I've ever experienced before."
Well the doc came back, I told him about the pain, and he dismissed it! He said it was not nerve pain, nor was it related to the unit. Funny...haven't had much of that pain since the unit was removed PLUS the unit was 6 inches above where it was first implanted.
Today, I am just really tired but my backside already feels better now that the unit isn't pressing into me. I am so relieved. I hope the other stimmers going through removal also have an easier time.

I hope you heal quickly and that the pain won't come back or anything. Those interstims cause more harm than good, I'm certain of it after reading all the posts here...
Blessings,

I wish my uro would never have mentioned this unit to me. It has been such a nightmare, plus two extra surgeries. If I never have surgery again, it will be too soon! Now I just wait to see if there are any lingering, "rest of life" effects. We'll see as time goes on, I suppose.
I just hope that people think very carefully about going through with this device. I was so desperate at the time for relief, but a year or so later, it was becoming a problem. Not worth it for me.Mommy to 2 crazy, wonderful kids and wife to the most amazing man in the world!

I spoke too soon...my backside is sooo sore today. I spent most of the day in bed. Ugh. I guess the anesthetic he put in the pocket has worn off, and I am so sick of pain medication. It feels like it is still there, like it's still sticking me. I hope that feeling goes away soon.

Oh, I bet it will. Probably like any surgery that area will need time to heal and get to feeling better.
