Most antibiotics have anti-inflammatory qualities, which can help make us feel better. I agree that you need to discuss the results of your tests with your doctor.

    hi there

I have Lyme disease too and I think have got enterococcus again.

How long have you to take the antibiotics for?

My LLMD said to take Quercetin twice daily to help the inflammation.

I havent talked to my NP at the uro office...but im on Cipro for lyme twice a day and i know it was listed on the list as intermediate for the strep D.

i hope this high of a dose knocks it out. I havent heard anything else about the Strep D.

i dont know how receptive my NP will be about this test... we shall see.

My g.p. told me today that strep d is a skin bacteria (he said I contaminated the sample and that's why strep d showed up) he said this bacteria is not from the GI system. I am so confused. He said broth culture is totally useless don't take antibiotics for this. The test is wrong. Huh??

    Hi Vampireness,

Yes we keep missing each other online!

Yes, Martha did answer my question. I would still like to read more about this bacteria if anyone could point me to something to read online. I am still going to take the antibiotics.

Erica - This website should give you a rough clue. Like Martha or Romans mentioned Strep D is enterococcus and they are in our intestines!!!

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enterococcus

Some of the strep are harmless as it's stated but apparently it's bothersome and bladder is supposed to be sterile. And alots of people like in this forum find this in their urine and take antibiotics and feel better or "normal" so if it's "skin contamination" then why do they feel better? Why does Enterococcus bother some?!?!

If you have symptoms and it's bothersome then it requires attention. Don't see your GP anymore, I hate people like him!!! They make all doctors look bad.

Im glad you still going with antibiotics.

Here is some info on enterococcus faecalis, which is now classified as group D strep..
    http://www.ebi.ac.uk/2can/genomes/ge..._faecalis.html

NOTE: Not all group D streptococci are strains under the enterococcus classification, just as not all enterococcus are reclassified as group D step.

scroll down to the strep D section if you'd rather not read the whole thing.
